My condolences Dude ....that old ivy is a terrible curse altogether so it is .

Seanie will hunker down until Summer 2021 at least ..I'm sure he is working on a few projects at present.

Prob make a few cameo appearences on some comment shows circa May / June

Just to see what the public reaction might be ...newspaper column perhaps to soften up the masses .

That's my take on it anyways ....

You could have sommit there Nevin, will happen ‘under cover of a major event’ I have no doubt.

Yes.... it could be a slow and easy introduction.... sorry ...re- introduction.

Yeah but he would be worried that he would come back on Jan 5th and find that RTE have replaced him with an ipod.

Will Ronan actually be presenting tho or a stand in?

Any word on what's replacing drivetime? Another week of "Saturday sounds abba and Elton John specials with Neil Doherty"?

How did Fiachna Ó Braonáin get into RTE Radio ? Why did they dispense with broadcasting giants Brendan Balfe and Alf McCarthy only to put dull boring Fiachna Ó Braonáin on the schedule

Alf was forced out when he turned 65, wasn’t happy at the time but that’s the rules. For some.

Nadine O'Regan stood in on Late Date over last weekend and blew the cobwebs away, highlighted what the show could be without endless Nick Drake and the incredibly lazy ''you heard this one the night before last and here it is again''. There's some good music on there but way too many repeats, feels like the show is on a loop some weeks.

Don't get all the Ronan hate. I don't specifically tune into it but any time I listen to it there is always a good mix of music.

The request element, while a bit dated, is vaguely interesting to me too.

Its not an age thing either...I would have listened to him since my 20's...

Did you ever hear the phrase "Freshen things up" or "try something new "

My gripe with Collins is that you can tell what he is going to say in the intro and for most of the prog.

Is that right for a Radio Show ?

The listeners deserve better ...lazy dull broadcastin ...needs to change .

Think Cathal Murray replaced Alf, Lillian Smith was switched to Murrays dead hours slot on weekend mornings and Fiachna was then brought in to replace Lillian on LD. Nothing all that much against Fiachna, but they should have left well enough alone with Lillian, she was doing a fine job on the night shift.

Gets consistently healthy numbers Nev, bottom line.

He gives exactly what the majority of his listeners want after four hours of current affairs and an hour of Tubridy.

Good point P ...I guess you can't arg with the numbers !

Not for me though ...bang down the orf button pretty sharpish when CB has wrapped...sometimes I'm told with unnecessary speed and force.

Each to his own ...wha ?

Lillian has publicly stated that she prefers presenting the the weekend mornings to previously doing weekends on late date ...though this is probably a lifestyle statement

For a good while after she was removed from weekend late date, she didn't have her own slot in the schedule but still frequently filled in.

    Public Service Radio?

There is enough Covid news on Radio 1 as it is.
We are all sick of it at this stage.
What do you expect them more to say or do?

Only what they are being paid for.....Public Service... keep the public informed.

Certainly not bore the hoop off people with recorded rubbish.

There are things going on besides COVID too, you know.

Good call Bendar.....the need for proper public service broascasting does not disappear over the holiday period.

RTE seem to think it does - everything dummed down - B team in place and and the guys and gals on the big wedges laughing all the way to the bank.

Rumm do in this posters opinion....

We’ve had months of the bloody Covid from rte radio to the point I stopped listening because it was constant hushed tones and as if the world was falling. I know it’s not been great but the world is still spinning on its axis. Leave the RTÉ negative crowd have some time away.
