RTE gone to sleep in the midst of the biggest crisis in the states history.

    Public Service Radio?

I'll believe your concern about news on RTE when you post it at a time when they would normally have news not 637am

I would have thought that they would have made an effort this year instead of hawking the usual recorded rubbish on us.

They even remembered to give us Rte Gold from the first lockdown..not the worst thing in fairness.

    It’s disrespecting their listeners.

But of course the listeners don’t count as long as the ‘stars’ can have their beaks stuck in the mulled wine for the 12 days.

PBH putting out some sort of current affairs show this morning in the "Today" slot. RTE really dropped the ball here this week, at least Newstalk had Mark Cagney presenting a live current affairs show in Pat's slot, and it was quite good.

I'm finding the PBH covering for Claire covering for Ryan show today one of the best programmes in that timeslot for months.
Good mix of topics and interviews.
Only glitch was the loooooong delay on the line to China but that's normal for RTE.

with the exception of a reduced News at One by 15 mins, there's no real difference in the weekday talk schedule on RTE Radio 1

Undoubted star of dead period the newsreader with the Nordie accent.

O’Brien is her name I think.

Now on another serious topic, would someone do a cull out in RTE on this ‘Nooze’ pandemic.

    It’s ‘News’ lads and lassies.

Originated in AA Roadwatch, TV3, and ‘Noozetalk’.

Montrose is badly infected especially with these ‘B’ listers appearing from all quarters while the highly paid ‘stars’ beak the mulled wine in Goggins of Monkstown and the neckbeards drink The Galloper out of brandy.

Need to get Holohan in there....not good enough.

It’s Carla O’Brien, wife of Tony Holohan’s deputy,
Ronan Glynn. Getting a good run out over the Christmas break

RTE Gold in Darcy's slot. Other "talk" shows running as normal.

It has been on these last few mornings

Yep, but never on New Year's Day.

    Drive time at 1700.

You are flogging a dead horse here dude.

Other talk shows are not running as normal.

People in RTE are being paid huge money to provide Public Service Broadcasting.

The Indies are producing far better product for a fraction of the cost.

There is no way you and your fellow travelers can defend that.

Will the first team appear from Goggins (if it’s open) on Monday.

Will the neckbeards don the cardigans and leather elbow patches for 04 Jan

Extended holidays for Tubridy - until Wednesday - and Claire Byrne, with Bouchier Hayes filling in for "a few days". Ronan due back at 12.00 but Duffy could be doubtful.

Jaysus..... at least it’s not until 12.

Incredible is all one can say.

Duffy tends to come back earlier and disappear quite shortly after, say maybe around Valentines.

If I was a cynic I would say it was probably a ploy to give the impression of ‘back to normal’ for the place.

And as predicted it’s extra holidays for Joe as well. Kate E Hannon on Liveline duty. Will we hear Darcy or maybe they will go through the full card with everybody off?

Michael Cahill has been on Rising Time all this week. He's too upbeat for that time of the morning for me.

Ok folks as the ‘season’ draws to a close let’s draw the curtain on an abysmal offering.

When the country was on its uppers and in the midst of a pandemic and Brexit the national broadcaster went to sleep.

Recordings, stand in presenters, mindless music, truncated news reports, repeats ,while the public got their info largely from social media.

    Nothing new there.

I nominate Carla O’Brien newsreader as the best newcomer

I noticed that the ad machine malfunctioned during Morning Ireland meaning that commercials were not aired at the intended time.

Is there a harder working soul out in montrose than vivienne traynor? She's on the morning shift today but from what i can tell, she rarely seems to be off. One day over xmas i swear i saw her do the tv news at 9, then heard her deliver the news on radio later that night. Pretty sure i saw her doing a report from one of the courts recently too. Just hope she's on a decent enough wedge anyway cos she's one of the few i would have no hesitation in saying she's earning it.

You can be sure the wedge is good.

That reminds me of Michael Murphy, who used to do virtually every news bulletin between 23rd December and 6th January each year until he retired from RTE.

Yes that’s what happens, given the ‘news bulletins’ were about 60 seconds with little inserts I’m sure a lot of them were done over the phone.......and now back to Ronan Collins for more music until 1 o clock followed by a repeat of the ‘Childrenof Tuam’ and RTE Gold at 3 o clock....

    Yeah...

At least Claire B acknowledged PBH's "holding the fort" when she returned this morning, unlike Duffy who rocked up with "welcome to Liveine" on Wednesday and never acknowledged that he had been away for nearly a fortnight.

Par for the course with Joe, never thanks his replacements when he comes back and rarely mentions in advance that he won’t be around. Sounded like Claire was working remotely yesterday.

I prefer Vivienne to a lot of them.

On the "wedge" front, I'm sure she won't starve. Hubby Justin Treacy is a full time staffer as well.

What does the bould Justin do for a wedge in Montrose.

Is he the geezer on the Sports team with the beard.
