Another pound this week, slightly surprising as it hasnt been the best week in terms of diet, we've been moving house all week with no access to an oven and no time really to cook much, so there has been 3 or 4 take-aways and a few ready meals thrown in there.
A great week outside of that thou, buying a house is a big milestone for us.

Onwards and upwards now, diet should be better again from here out.

Congratulations on the house (and the smaller you) 10% of your bodyweight down.

I thought I'd had a bad week, had a few beers on 3 midweek nights watching the election coverage, absolutely rigidly sticking to my food plan though so that must be the reason.

    Feels good man.

Completely fell off the wagon the past few weeks and up 10 lbs. Not happy!
Something to do with this time of year. Over indulged and feel cr*p.

So restarting today - going to shoot for an 18 hour fast.
Sipping Apple Cider Vinegar in water.

Started this last night. Going to do fasting and eat in a 2-3 hour window. I'll be eating about 1400 calories a day . Here's my plan and meal

630 -breakfast black coffee and water
13.30 lunch black coffee and water
17.30 break black coffee and water
20.30 dinner-227g Ribeye steak 350g large baked potato 3 large eggs and 250g of mixed vegetables
10.30 pre bed snack 250g of 0% Greek yogurt 230g of straw berries

I'll also be take a strong multi vitamin , fish oils caps and some probiotics

Exercise for now is just 10000 steps a day

If you became more creative you could eat so much more. Like instead of 227g rib eye why not buy 5% mince, 100 calories buns and fat free cheese. You could literally make a half pound of meat burger with all sauces and veg for total 500 Cal's that if you ate at lunch would have you ridiculously full all day. I have them most days and they taste better than a big Mac.

Steaks are also incredibly hard to accurately count calories.

There's no reason for this fasting, if you got creative you could eat breakfast lunch and dinner for 1400 cals and never be hungry.

1400 Cal's is a bit low aswell tbh, at your weight and height if you are prepared to track calories accurately you could easily bump it up to 1800

Low fat Kelkin microwave popcorn is like 220 calories a bag, which end up as a whopper bowl of popcorn. have that mid day as a snack before you walk.

Digital scales to weigh food is key

There's no reason for this fasting,

I would disagree to an extent, there's no reason for any type of particular diet really beyond calories, but fasting helps some people stick to it better. When I've done it I find it much harder to overeat when there's only a single meal a day, you get physically too full to overeat and then that's it until the next day... Definitely not for everyone but there's merit to it for some imo.

yeah horses for courses, but I simply can't function properly if my brain is screaming at me that it wants food. We also have a 6 year old in the house and we like to have meals together as a family, and I'm not making a kid fast.

Agree, I have done diets before and lost alot of weight fasting but it's harder to stick to imo compared to simply making huge meals with the minimum calories possible and eat throughout the day. You don't have to be hungry on a diet if you eat the right foods and meticulously track calories.

Fasting was the missing link for me. I lost a tonne of weight (nearly a tonne :p) this year by just not eating.
Dr Jason Fung explains fasting extremely well. You naturally eat less.
I find it very easy to stick to but each to their own I guess.

I don't track calories, I just know what is calorific and what isn't, my lunch every day is absolutely loads of veg (broc, pepper, courgette, carrot, kale, sprouts, beansprouts, water chestnut, bamboo, fresh chilli, garlic and ginger) and about 130g of protein, usually Turkey Steak, stir fried with no oil and add a spice mix (chinese 5, thai 7, italian seasoning or similar)

breakfast is 3 eggs (omlette or poached normally) and some ham (we always have a ham cooked, it does for my breakfasts and my son's school lunch) and a few tomatoes.

"normal" dinner, and I mean normal, I don't portion watch or avoid carbs etc

and I never eat after about 6.30 in the evening (at weekends I'll have a few cans of beer)

I know I'm eating at a calorie deficit with that routine, and combined with some exercise I'm doing ok on weightloss

Cheers! TBH it doesn't make THAT much difference day to day (excluding exercise) but with working from home etc that's maybe to be expected. Still though, there's no doubt I look better!

Had a wobbly couple of weeks with celebrating the goal, then birthday and a few other bits and am a bit over 200 again so need to knuckle down again. Weather and family circumstances have also been interfering with getting the exercise in as well!

A lot of that 10 lbs is probably water weight though, should knock it off easy enough.

Very filling and 6 cals. They're average taste-wise, but throw into a low cal cuppa soup or something and you'll be very full for a few hundred cals.

Hope you are right....Its just not worth going off plan for too long. Finding it hard to get the hunger under control. A cheat day is fine but a cheat month is so not worth it :(

You can buy a wrap that's 200 cals or a similar wrap that's 60 cals + 140 cals of turkey meat. It really comes down to using your head and watching the cals when shopping.

The noodles I posted in the previous link, they aren't great, but they will leave you full and that's kind of the point of the things.

Thanks but I'm doing keto so no wraps for me. Doing a combo of Keto and Fast800 works as I wasn't hungry.
Taking a few days to get back into ketosis but once there will be grand.
Yeah I got something similar to those noodles in Holland & Barrett. Slim Pasta I think its called. Needs a lot of rinsing.

It isn't really the point though. Eating shouldn't be so joyless. If it's to be a sustainable change where you make better food choices then for quite a few people, noodles and a cup of soup won't cut it. To some it might but at its heart, people need to be able to enjoy food to some degree rather than just eating something that you don't like because its low in calories. Wouldn't take much to knock you off that wagon

Have mentioned it previously, but one of my mainstays is tenderstem broccoli. Tasty and very filling, but SFA calories. I generally fry it with mushrooms. Fire in some soy sauce and balsamic vinegar and you have a fine Asian flavoured keto friendly side dish (presuming you're not doing a strict keto diet avoiding all carbs).

Is there any nutrition in them?
Might be ok for an occasional quick snack but couldn't be eating them regularly.

There's literally nothing in them, but they are filling.
Bit of oil, garlic, chilly onions etc and you have a very low calorie filling meal.

Some people overeat. Surely eating what they liked and loving food is what got them in this mess to begin with.

There are tricks you can employ to satiate your hunger (mental or otherwise) and still not gain weight.

By all means eat what you like, that's your prerogative. I on the other hand will look for alternatives to calorie dense food where possible. But that's me.

To take your approach, eat what you like.
But if you feel peckish eat those noodles in a bit of chilly & garlic oil with some veg :D I am not telling people what to do just presenting alternatives that might be more ahem...palatable.
