The young doctor speaks well especially considering he is 23

Can they give us a worst case example if we do nothing, are we talking 1% of the population dying or something more serious?

    Something like 10 times 9/11

Glynn basically just said that contact tracing can't keep up with the clusters.

I was basically saying people wear gimp masks in bed. People are horny.

    Was a joke

Dr Holohan just confirmed that contact tracing can't keep up with the number of cases they're seeing. Uh oh.

We need contact tracing to keep us as safe as possible from this virus.

Such bulls*it. I'm sitting at home since March essentially, I have badgered my local TD in Gov to be recruited to contact tracing, NOTHING. There's thousands like me.

Fines are needed, fancy ads on the radio and on tv aren't going to police it.

When there is an outbreak in a hospital and some patients get it, are those patients counted in the numbers in hospital with Covid even though they were already in hospital for some other reason?
The impression is being given that the numbers in hospital with Covid were admitted because they had Covid.

Correct. It totally misrepresents the numbers. It should be in Hospital due to Covid.

I don't see the problem rolling that chap out. If it makes the absolute thickos who aren't obeying the rules think twice then I'm all for it.

The sooner they cop on the sooner we can open up business again.

I think it's counterproductive. Our politicians and media commentators seem to think that negativity and fear will drive compliant behaviour.

I think we have seen that clarity of purpose towards a positive goal is much more effective. When they asked us to work together to 'flatten the curve' we really bought in to the message and the campaign was relatively successful.

Negativity and fear just heightens stress and leads to anger, resentment and rebellion.

They don't seem to understand that.

I'd be willing to volunteer as a contact tracer tbh, I'm sure there's others

Do you honestly think 'young people' are tuned into RTE News Now to watch this? If they think that, they're completely and utterly out of touch.
They don't have to be watching it. You put it in there to get it out and they'll hear about it from parents, siblings etc.

As I said, people are completely overestimating the number who watch the briefings.

If only the HSE had a period of time where they could build up resources

They spent months sitting on their lazy administrative holes. And the escalation of restrictions is partially down to lacklustre ICU capacity. Pitiful.

No - do not turn the apparatus of the State against the people. Wrong move. Thats what they tried with Irish Water - a disaster.

Treat people like adults and they will behave like adults.

This only serves to scaring the people who are already fearful even more.

You are underestimating the way news spreads much like you did the spread of coronavirus.

Tony is a gentleman and a scholar. Don't believe we could have a better man at the head of this.

Undoubtedly, but the Government won't be in a hurry to release them. Consider the fury that would greet them from publicans down to their last penny.

Unfortunately people aren’t behaving as adults.

Agreed, a strong man too. You need to have a very strong character for that job in these times.

Yes but a TD isn't going to employ you as one. Silly original post.

Normally true, but in fairness I think the last few months have shown otherwise......
