Exactly and nobody has any right to demand you interact with people in a certain way. That's you and those other people's decision and nobody else's.
Public health advice should be taken for what it is, advice.

Well, except for seat belts, drink driving laws, age of consent laws, child labour laws..

Good timing for their anti-Trump agenda :P

We know Covid is easier to spread than flu, and more serious.

But given there are vaccines for flu, and death rates have reduced in most countries, if you take out the initial couple of months where deaths were in large numbers, it probably would not be 5 times then?

A lot of people put life over health every day, it's not something you should be obsessed about and stop living at the thoughts of something bad happening, how many of us partake in dangerous sports, take drink, drugs, smoke, sleep with random strangers, loads do and they want to get on with life, a lot of people have no interest in leaving behind a good looking corpse or spending their remaining years being spoon fed in a nursing home and crying for water nobody brings.
Choose Life, not wasting it all hiding behind a couch.

Go away with keeping your distance and wearing a mask, there not compatible with a great life.
with your attitude, nobody will be able to lead a normal life for a very long time, everything will remain closed, thats hardly leading a life, maybe just maybe if everybody works to get numbers down, then EVERYBODY can get back to leading a normal life.

I hope they bring in those fines for people not wearing masks asap.

If herd immunity worked for this why is Sweden starting to see increasing cases in line with everyone else.
So far their approach seems, at least to me, to have resulted in more deaths than their neighboring countries and a similar drop in economic growth the last time I checked.

Very few people as a percentage of the Swedish population have been exposed. Their strategy was social distancing, reduce contacts, hand washing and stopping crowds from gathering. It was not a lockdown but it was also not a herd immunity strategy. It was based on trusting the population to do the right thing and avoid fatigue. In a years time we will all be following the Swedish model as fatigue with lockdowns will force governments to trust populations to do the right thing.

But our population can't do the right thing. Too much of us are borderline retarded. We have proven this with protests, street party's and not wearing masks inside shops.

Wow, some people are so NEGATIVE.
Why don't you write down all the things you can do?
Some people just see the glass as being half empty.

In New Zealand you can do all of those things. Perhaps you should look at zerocovid.
Sounds like you'd be a fan.

We got numbers down, it didn't work. We need to accept the reality of right here and now and that's we have no vaccine. Only way back to normal is go back to normal. I'm tired of protecting people who don't know me and I will never know, they need to forget about what everyone else is doing and protect themselves. We can't all be held accountable for the nursing home deaths when we know right well it was not our decision to put them in the firing line in the first place, that's on Harris, Tony's, Reids etc heads.

**** me! First world problems all wrecked now.
You can still swim - (try the sea, it's very refreshing)
And actually do most things on your list by sticking to the guidelines, online or in a small group. But you'll be able to do it all when this is over and probably enjoy it more.

This is a pandemic - it's awful - things will get worse before they get better - moaning on here won't change that.

Good idea, I'll have a go trying to think of a few things that don't cause a certain amount of anxiety while staying within the rules..

    I can mow the lawn
    I can sit at home
I can run around the house
    I can watch Netflix
    I can shop online

I'm stuck have you any more ideas... really getting excited about this new normal can't believe I didn't think of those fun things already.

You think you are fine and fsck the elderly, that is the impression I get from your posts. You are sick of the restrictions because you aren't worried about Covid. Have you considered that fact that if we let go of the restrictions then it is inevitable that the hospitals will get hammered. Hopefully you won't need to get an emergency procedure or anything because your preference was to 'party' and see girls smiling faces.

No one is saying it's easy.
This is unheard of. Closing down the world pretty much and when it opened back up so many things still not back to normal. Insane times so it's understandable.

You're being asked not to infect others.

    - the more people gathering the more chance of spreading/catching covid
    - please don't go up to people asking to be their friend without a mask, you won't get very far
    - if you cross county border, you can infect other people in that county and create clusters and from someone who cries over wearing a mask and social distance
    - you can't see ugly teeth
    - you can't hold parties with people gathering, again covid can spread
    - if you're dying for a swim, swim in the sea
    - I think gyms are open (not sure about level 3 though), but do you not see anything wrong with people huffing and puffing covid in a gym?
    - being indoors in a pub (or restaurant) with a mask off, covid can spread
    - matches create large crowds and covid can spread (unless we go down NZ way and we can have a large match but that doesn't seem to be an option in Ireland)
    - why do you want to bring kids to covid infected houses
    - festivals are large gatherings, covid can spread
    - Christmas parties are large (or small) gatherings and covid spread

There's so much things we can't do. It's to help prevent spreading disease. And you feel put out helping with the situation by wearing a mask?

A drive to the beach for a sea swim is zero risk. All you need is a good excuse.
Urinate in your wetsuit to be safe.

We won’t though. Without a vaccine or without the virus burning itself out, this is our life for the foreseeable. There is no way for us to get rid of this virus. Zero Covid is a nonsense strategy and goal particularly when you look around Europe, across the water and over the border. There will be no normal life until we have a vaccine.

That’s not to say we just say “f**k it” and all do what we want. There is no good choice or good option here.

I'm not infected and when I'm sick you'll usually find me in bed not smooching golden girls in the nursing home.

What's important is that the contaminated don't contaminate others....

I think the infected should all be moved to Connaught.

    There I said it.

This virus is spread by more people doing the right thing more of the time.

If we follow regulations to the letter but you are out and about all day long you are more of a risk thnt someone not following the rules but only doing it once a week.

The spread we have of late is due to people out and about more. Level 3 lockdown will reduce that hopefully.

In the main we have done good as a society despite mixed messages from govt re don't go on holidays but staycation, reduce contacts but get a tax rebate for eating out in a hotel, don't eat out but give restaurants a 9% VAT rate to encourage more eating out etc etc
