I think this is the thing, we are each just going to have to take responsibility for it ourselves and let people know, all my close contacts are the same, most have been tested now too just waiting on results.

How are you feeling? Are you symptomatic?

I was since Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday were very rough, stupid me making it worse by working from home as well

Still had some symptoms up to this morning but for the most part they seem to have gone now. Little bit breathless still that's about it.

Imo this will become the case, essentially the concept of proof of immunity will be required
Or it may be that like at present that certain autoimmune disorders like RA get medical waivers for the yellow fever vaccine or like in healthcare some non responders or persons with documented adverse reactions or previous infection get waviers.
And it really depends on how effective the vaccines are, and at what point community immunity exists, whether the virus mutates or becomes endemic or seasonal etc etc. Oh, the joys of it all..

Recent story heard from a bus passenger in Cork city. Near the end of the route a fellow passenger gets up and asks the driver where the covid testing centre is and to drop him off there.
Not great for the peace of mind of the other occupants of the bus..

He could have been on the way to work.........in the test centre ?
( There are actually people who work in those places).

I posted earlier someone I knew, who does not drive travelled to CUH in cork for pre op appointment, and told they would have to be tested elsewhere, so they had to hop on more than one bus to get there and back to the hospital. Which they did as no other option. Results then sent over. Might this be the case here?

    During a Pandemic? Most definitely.

I would think that the health authorities in northern Ireland wouldn't want people from the Republic traveling up and using vital health resources. Going further I would think that this service is suspended now. Nobody is making that trip from Kerry to Belfast.

This is the Cross Border Directive facility. Look it up? Whereby our people pay in advance for especially cataract and hip replacement surgery . travel to the North where there are less lists, have the surgery then come home and HSE refund the costs.
It helped reduce our huge waiting lists. And got folk treated sooner. Which was especially vital for old folk with cataracts.

This has been so for years. The more recent Kerry buses were the brainchild of the Healy Raes for obvious reasons.

And yes that will have stopped. So our waiting lists will grow.

I was tested for covid this weekend because I found a fever. I'm doing OKish. I have body aches and pains and tummy cramps. My fever has settled down without medicine. I'm not overly concerned it's covid because there's none of the typical covid symptoms like cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste. I was very happy with the quick turned around from being referred to test and getting tested. Waiting on results now. I kept my close contacts low and there's nobody in my circle sick or displaying symptoms or confirmed as a positive. If my results come back positive, it will be a very sore pill to swallow to learn that this is a community transmission case. I don't think it will be positive though. I am loving the isolation period. I'm sitting up in bed reading books, watching tiktok and YouTube videos and working on hobbies. I love it. I definitely need more isolation periods for relaxation.

Lads is it just me or is Micheal Martin not singing from the same hymn sheet as others in government? Every time someone 'senior' says one thing, he comes out the polar opposite or some otherwise off-beat statement. Varadkar this morning mention the potential need for something akin to a 'circuit breaker' and now Martin is talking about how he is not convinced by experimental procedures - both are seated on the COVID19 Cabinet sub-committee.

There is a really harrowing warning of this type of communication from government in a book by Dr. Johnathan D. Quick (a respected public health expert and former Director of EDM for the World Health Organisation) which speaks to how dangerous this type of disconnected communication is when faced with an epidemic. He quotes several sources over past epidemics and how poor communication has had disastrous outcomes in other countries. I read this book when it was released a few years ago and I've actually gone back to read it again; it feels very much like we've fallen into every single disaster trap he describes when it comes to responding to public health emergencies.

What I am coming to realise is that a lockdown in Ireland is essentially a lockdown on businesses and the economy, and services of all kinds that people need - but there is absolutely no power or will to force individuals to comply with masks and social distancing, to stop house parties and mass gatherings, or the anti-social behavior prevalent in Dublin - and on top of it all schools are opened.

So essentially the lockdown has no power to significantly stop the spread of the virus, but is destroying economy and life.

How do all these political leaders, experts, and other decision makers not see this? What am I missing?

Are we expecting numbers today at 6:30 like it has been recently?

Wouldn't bet money on it. When I went for my test, there was two taxis behind me, none of the drivers with mask on, passengers in the back seat with mask on.

Hit the switch to keep the lights on.

This tbh, it's so strange and infuriating.

When I got my test they were suggesting that I get a taxi to the test centre as I don't drive and don't live with anyone who drives.

My response was that I was healthy enough to walk or cycle 3km to my nearest centre but I had enough cop on not to get in a taxi with someone when I had symptoms.

They then suggested another test centre as my nearest centre was booked up. I said I wasn't healthy enough to walk or cycle 10km each way to a test.

I was then offered the ambulance call out.

Who knows, they have the numbers late morning early afternoon so I see no reason why they have started releasing them so late lately.

Could it be so that the six one news can't lead with them?
