Could you even be bothered for every study that says one thing there's another to say the polar opposite.

Sorry, nope. I'm pretty sure you were pointed to sources of info countless times already.

Hit the switch to keep the lights on.

That's a Stones sorry to hear hopefully you'll bounce out of it. Any idea how you got it?

Your exactly what I'm talking about though your 100% a positive active case. I called it a True positive I'm not sure or the right phrase.
When we go blanket testing were picking up possibly old cases might be only two weeks old but could be two months. That's my issue, your gone from testing active cases to random sampling for RNA and including them as positives the exact same way that your case has been recorded when there two different beasts.

Not really sure tbh. Likely the North, was watching footie on TV with a mate last Saturday, he had been up to visit his sister who subsequently tested positive this week.

Would have been nice of him to tell me like. Only found that out when I rang him myself to tell him he was a close contact (tracers still haven't contacted me for my list so did it all myself)

Does anyone have a rough idea of how long the contact tracing process takes? My sister tested positive on Thursday and nobody has asked for her close contacts yet?

Same as me. Did she have her first call with them yet can I ask? Apparently it's a two-stage process.

Their not alright according to RIP.ie if you check it for Laois deaths

None on a Sunday. Tomorrow gives a 48 hour swab and testing count.

I thought they released them on Sundays too.

This seems to be an issue - close contacts of those who have tested positive not isolating

I'd be majorly pissed off at your friend if I were you

Glad to hear you are not doing too bad, continued best wishes for a speedy recovery

Had a feeling that was where you got the data and checked.

Case numbers yes, swab totals no.

I find your post strange. You have already said you will keep your kids at home until a vaccine is available. Now you have an issue with a vaccine when it becomes available. No pleasing some people.

I may wish to buy a car next week, however I don't want an unreliable one

    I know, obvious

Perhaps the poster is a little biased towards a safe vaccine ??

Yeah add to it he's totally asymptomatic I'm not in the best of humour about it.

Now that being said, there is another avenue where I possibly contracted it which was at work, learned of another colleague self-isolating as a result of close contact (we work in the same section) so potentially picked it up through a contaminated surface or something there. Had no close contact with him mind, so the likelihood is it's my buddy.

Mates are good like that, has he any symptoms and tested positive?

Contact tracing seems a joke...we've a list made for the staff incase the contact tracers come looking for it, was part of the rules that had to be followed for reopening. I wonder will they bother contacting your work and looking for it. I don't get how there so slow to react.

Okay, I get you thanks, is it just the positives but not how many tests were taken.

So she had her test Wednesday and her own GP called her Thursday with the results that she’s positive, then on Saturday she had her first call from the hse but that was just to let her know she had tested positive and was told someone from contact tracing would be in touch.

No symptoms, hasn't been tested yet  Tried to contact his GP on Friday and couldn't get through

If people aren't going to take vaccines for whatever reason - happy to let others be the guinea pigs, no interest, anti-vax etc., then the rest of society will need to be protected from the consequences of that choice. It's important that the "vulnerable" who have had such a difficult time trying to keep themselves safe don't have to continue restricting themselves because of the selfishness of others.

At that point we need to flip the rules on cocooning/restrictions etc. The people who haven't taken a vaccine will need to be kept out of places where they may spread the disease, e.g. pubs, restaurants, schools, workplaces, international travel. They may be happy to take their chances with this virus, but the rest of the population shouldn't have to continue to restrict themselves as a consequence. Over time we will eventually achieve herd immunity thanks to a combination of vaccines and natural infections at which time society can re-open fully.

This is an outrageous suggestion in my opinion, as I've stated previously on the other thread. You're advocating mandatory vaccination of the most rushed vaccine in history.
I'm pro-vaccine in general, but I don't agree with being forced to take something that's produced in a panic. If the vaccine produces good results in trials, and early vaccination groups - great. People will take it and uptake will be high, there should be no-one forced into it.

Not everything is black and white, some of the people who might not be able to take the vaccine especially earlier on... Are in the vulnerable group.

Apparently public health teams are overwhelmed with contact tracing

One wonders what the HSE did to plan for this the past seven months

There not even going for a test let alone isolating.

I like the Czech approach of going to a hotel maybe we could have an Irish version where when one of your gang test positive you all get to hang out in the same hotel for two weeks. They'd all turn up for a test.

Basically the same as me so

Tested wednesday, heard from my GP Friday I was positive. Contact tracers rang yesterday morning with a questionnaire about my symptoms, possible sources of transmission etc.

Told I would be contacted again for list of contacts... still waiting.

Yeah, and if they do spread it, it's gonna be to others who haven't taken the vaccine, so why would there be a problem?

You would think they would do it all in the same call then have a callback to see if they remember any more names.

No, tbf to him he only found out his sister was going for a test on the Monday.

Imo this will become the case, essentially the concept of proof of immunity will be required

Yeah, I even told the guy I had my list for them including work colleagues. He was kind of surprised! Like, I'm sitting at home since Tuesday afternoon, would be irresponsible of me not to at least have something organised.

Its madness really. Thankfully she has isolated since symptoms started and contacted all her close contacts over the past 2 weeks. All our immediate family been tested and 2 more cases found in cousins each different households. We’re fairly on top of it ourselves just can’t believe how long its taking for the contact tracing to get in touch.

I think this is the thing, we are each just going to have to take responsibility for it ourselves and let people know, all my close contacts are the same, most have been tested now too just waiting on results.

It’s ridiculous we obviously went ahead with isolating and getting tested and 2 more cases found in the family. Can’t understand why they don’t just take the persons contact list when ringing with their results.
