Covid doesn't care about people's well being. I like the gym as the next person but it is a great breeding ground for the virus.

Ok close them again so. Sure let’s just close everything again for one of Dr Tony’s ‘short’ lockdowns. Last time he said two weeks - which actually meant 3/4 months.
This time the gyms won’t be there when it’s decided it’s safe to go back outside - they’ll be long gone bust. Along with thousands of other businesses and jobs...and the state.

The gym I go to is cleaned every hour and also equipment cleaned between use by the users. 2m distance is also enforced. Please shows me any source that gyms are contributing to increased cases.

You might see by my posts that my attitude is strongly anti lockdown and we need to get on with this. I went to the gym 3 times a week before March and it’s the one thing I’m not comfortable doing. You have people sweating and breathing heavily and who knows how many people touch things before they are cleaned

Id imagine a lot of it is down to having icu beds, when we run out of capacity things will get worse id assume, hopefully we don't get there.

We didn't run out in March and we had a 7 day average of 69 deaths a day, plus I would say 60-70% don't even go to hospital

Gyms are one of the worst environments for infections to spread so should be the very last to reopen once we get a vaccine

People shouldn't get bogged down in the daily infection numbers. It's the death rates we need to be concerned about.

One follows the other two or three weeks later. The infection numbers are an indication of what's to come, so yes we need to be concerned about them. The idea is to act now, it's already too late when the deaths start happening.

If you go back to my post I am talking about how a gym is a lovely place for covid. Again a covid's wet dream I said. It was the first poster that I quoted that said all gyms should close. Maybe you should open your eyes more ;)

And for the record I have personally seen people use a machine and NOT clean it afterwards. Be it they don't care or just weren't thinking. It was what it was.

You responded to my query of why the gyms should close.
Like I said, where is the proof that gym are a "covids wet dream" as you put it? I havent heard of any cases being linked to them.

It's not the cleaning I would be bothered about. Are gyms opening windows?

Yea too right man, close the gyms now, they cause the virus! Who said being fit and healthy will stop things like heart disease and respiratory disease? Nah!

Close the Gyms now and let's all sit at home chill out and relax with a few beers and smokes while binge watching Netflix for hours on end!

Because their government in Westminster don't give a fiddlers about them.

They have the power to bring in more restrictions - Scotland have done so. Baffling that they seem to be doing absolutely SFA.

I don't get this proposal of the 'circuit breaker' with a potential total shut down of a few weeks.
Was the prolonged lockdown over the spring not a major 'circuit breaker' and lo and behold when things get back to 'normal' again, we're back to square 1 again.

To thine own self be true

    Here’s a thought for ya.
Covid is really only a symptom of the much bigger problem that is global warming.

    The economy vs people's health.
It's not so easy. There are many variables. It's hard.

On the flip side of what you said thousands could develop serious health issues due to Corona by letting it spread more.

As I say, it's not so easy and not so black and white.

    Overpopulation is the biggest problem

Being fit and healthy isn't stopping people getting covid and having lasting respiratory issues.

I would say the re emergence and the increase in infectious diseases is a direct result of the planet warming up.

Yes, this thread is indeed quite often a horrible distraction of sorts. It reminds me of the distraction tactics my mum used once when I was a young lad and my heart was broken by a young lady.

My mum hands me a book called “demon seed”. She says, “read that dear, that may help take your mind off how you feel”. It’s about an AI that locks a woman in a house and experiments on her. While reading the whole thing I was like “WTF is this and why has mum given me such a horrible book to read, this is awfully depressing”. When I asked her what what made her pick that book she said “were you distracted?”, I said I was, “so it worked then!”. :pac:

I guess I hope this thread is doing the same for you....

I'd say more to do with our ever expanding horizons into the wild and the biodiversity crisis.

Have to agree re: George Lee, doesn't matter what the numbers are he'd try scare the sh**e out of you, he seems very biased towards harsh lockdown measures, kind of becoming immune to all the news lately its all so negative. At the end of the day keep your contacts small, wash your hands, wear your face mask in appropriate settings and get on with your life
