They do the interviews in batches.

i.e. if they called 15 people to interview first time around. Those people would be Batch 1. So the person who finished 7th after the interviews would be batch 1, oom 7, etc

Then the next round of interviews is done and they are batch 2, next round are batch 3, etc....

So if you were in the group of people who were placed in the 60's after the first test, you'd be batch 5 and then your position (2), the second best person interviewed from that batch.

    (all interview numbers completely hypothetical)

Ok, so I got carried away with myself...batch 7, OOM 2. Does this mean there are still dozens/hundreds of others ahead of me? All with better scores? Confusing.

That's how i understood it to be in previous years but I'm not so sure.

My original oom was top 25, did the interview and place top 5. Someone else mentioned they interviewed 27 in my location, and the "our ref number" is batch 6. So unless its batches of 4 and everyone else bar a couple took and passed the interview, it just doesn't add up.

Unless the batches are their own reference for the batches they've interviewed at a national level.

You wait until you get an offer and work from there.

Pretty sure their no longer interviewing big numbers of people in batches, since covid. Their only interviewing once they've reached your oom and have an actual jobs available.

I just send off the garda e-vetting form - in one's experience how long does this usually take. From once you get the form back what is the usual process (ie do PAS get in contact with you about which Dept you will be asigned too etc) thanks in advance

I just got the Customs Officer email.

Are these permanent or temporary positions within the Public Service?

As in, would I be booted out of the public service once Brexit is done?

I sent the e-vet application on a Thursday evening. Was assigned a position by PAS on the Monday morning. Then got an email from e-vetting to say process was completed on the Tuesday morning.

My understanding is that they are permanent roles and if the case becomes that you are no longer needed in customs that you will be moved to Revenue.

There was a discussion about this previously on this thread. Can't remember specifically what page it was, sorry.

What area and roughly what OOM are you? It's just I was also called for interview and I'm trying to figure out the likelihood of getting a position.

They got back to me about a week after I had submitted the forms and the day after my vetting had been completed.

Does anyone know roughly how long until they give you a start date after you've been assigned to a department? I was just told that they'd be in contact with me shortly. And do they contact you by phone or email etc? Thanks

When you say you submitted your Garda Vetting form do you mean you sent your vetting application back to Revenue, or did you go on the National Vetting Bereau through the email link etc?

The only reason I ask is I sent my references, vetting app and declaration to Revenue and the link to fill out the vetting for the gardai was actually in my junk folder for a day by the time I saw it. I presume if I hadn't noticed and not filled it out, then I would have been getting no word back from Revenue!

    Hope this helps.

I was sent an email by PAS with vetting documents attached and I also followed a link to fill out online, I’ve been getting emails to say it’s been moving forward, but because they asked for my references I thought I would of heard back sooner but it’s been a week to date since I’ve submitted all relevant forms

It’s close to the end now, getting nervous that I’ll just never hear back aha
