70% survival rate for nursing home patients I heard on Newstalk earlier in Summer.

I'll take my chances in the mystery wall!

The pubs being closed (even outdoors) might influence Dublin. Might need that rolled out to the the rest.

Sure its being rolled out after tonight

Donegal is a lost cause. Should just build a wall around it

Pubs outside Dublin can stay open (outside seating). Pubs inside Dublin can't.

I don't like people saying look at Dublin this can work when they aren't applying the same measures outside Dublin.

If Dublin hadn't gone to level 3 we would probably be at 1k cases a day. Anyone who says L3 doesn't work is inbred.

Pubs that serve food can keep serving outside in Dublin

Jesus do you honestly think any pub will open in this weather, who would sit outside and drink a pint on an evening like this?

Dublin is level 3 with some elements of level 5.

The rest of the country is introducing level 3 with some elements of level 4.

Its not the same. Don't judge the rest of the country based on dublin success.

Feel bad for them with no visitors, they are like young kids at that age, just want company

There was heartbreaking piece on BBC breakfast this morning. An old man describing how he was visiting his wife in a care home, he wasn't allowed in so had to wave through the window. She suffers from dementia and as the weeks went on she was getting more and more withdrawn with the lack of contact. The poor man broke down in tears as all he wanted to do was go in and hold her.
Another video from a funeral home where the usher's wouldn't allow 2 son's comfort their mother at their fathers funeral, insisting they must move the chairs back to 2m apart after they went to get closer to her.
All these rules are well and good but some of the unintended consequences aren't right either.

The positive cases in schools, colleges, creches and education settings are rising but MM doesn't want that leaking out

    Tell me the difference?

Just because wet pubs can't sell outdoor pints? There's noting that different.

Sure closing the pubs will fix it. Can't have dozens of people congregating together...except for the hundreds that assemble in schools. No, I don't quite comprehend the reasoning either.

I wouldn't advise reading into one days figures too much. There is a wide scatter. The trend has been fairly consistent. Hopefully the level 5 chat will "scare" people into compliance with the very strict advice. I won't be trying to cross the county border lest I get a frown off the gardai.

It would be great if you could do the same chart for Dublin

It would be great to show people saying level 3 isn't working.
Cases now are mainly rising outside of Dublin

"Part the government's argument for going against NPHET's Level 5 advice is that Level 3 is working in Dublin. "

The Journal has taken a look to see if that's true: jrnl.ie/5225146t

This is the problem if you give some jobsworth a bit of power. Yeah rules are rules but you have to show a bit of cop on in these situations.

Heard someone earlier ask on radio if two sons could go across a county boarder for their dad's funeral. If any c**t stopped them doing that citing "non essential travel", they should be shot with balls of their own sh1t.

A few outdoor seating areas would have heated lamps. Have sat out in them before in winter so is possible.

    Where are you getting this?
Restaurants and cafes, including bars or pubs serving food or wet pubs, may remain open for takeaway and delivery and outdoor dining or service to an absolute maximum of 15 people.

Wet pubs in Dublin are to remain closed.

Nightclubs, discos and casinos will remain closed.

Nobody can stop them and anyway under the guidelines they would be allowed.

Sweden's herd immunity is looking less like a thing each day.
