Some dublin's numbers are looking ok . Why on earth was a full nationwide lockdown advised ?

No wonder right wing loons are protesting . Giving them enough fuel
At least 45 nursing home residents have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past week https://www.irishtimes.com/news/health/nphet-warned-government-about-seven-new-nursing-home-covid-19-outbreaks-1.4372907

4-600 a day that we're hitting atm over a sustained period is still likely to overwhelm our hospitals unfortunately. If we're hitting this amount every day of October and beyond, we're fecked like

Being outside has nothing to do with catching flu! or a cold indeed.

What's the use of just mentioning the 197 cases without a more detailed breakdown?
Is it a Tony Holohan thing to not give a better breakdown on daily county cases?
denotification of 8 confirmed cases today also.

I thought it was if cases are below 5 but that doesn't add up so not sure tbh unless it's 10?

Because all the projections say this stabilisation won’t last. It may well do so, but nphet can only go on projections

Dublin cases decreasing in recent days 111,130, 100 last 3 days compared to 224,198,170 the three days previously

Anyone thinking pubs will stay open and serve outdoors tomorrow will be dissapointed tomorrow.

Not one pub stayed open in Letterkenny. Not exactly weather for serving outdoors and with a max 15 people its hardly worth their while.

Holohan should resign of it does

Does it? Hopefully the trend continues.

What I mean is Dublin's rate of increase was slowing when L3.5 was introduced.

why did they keep telling us that they spent many weeks coming up with this living with covid plan if they are not willing to use all 5 levels it?

why is Leo saying they the CMo hadn't got any idea of how they would manage level 5, had they not being planning all summer for it?
This new plan has only been around for a month or two. Level 5 is total shutdown again. Even with rising cases we don't look anything like March. Level 4 & 5 are still available and could be used. Had they gone with NPHET 3 levels would be skipped and with no guarantee that 4 weeks would not become 6 or 8 weeks.

I just can't see the recommending it again now that government have made their decision but will have to wait and see I guess

Looks that way alright. A lot of deep denial going on though which is a problem

Yeah commercially and weather wise for a lot it might not be worth it. Guess it will depend on place and individual pubs. Off licenses and supermarkets will be doing well

If it all goes tits up and the numbers keep going in the wrong direction theyll have very little choice but to recommend it. Its whether the government pulls the trigger is the issue

What I would love to know about Dublin is how are all the homeless on the streets still alive

Seem to be thriving to me, see more and more of them, not a lethal virus to them

Yeah I just meant it probably won't happen in next 3 weeks unless things go drastically wrong from here. Hard to know because first time government has differed significantly in implementing the advice.

Appears that way . Since deaths are occuring but no discharges from ICU

And the inevitable deaths will be used to strike fear and rise to level 5.

I think the current restrictions are just fine, go to Level 5 or as Holoham would want, level 7, then they need to close the schools too.

The detailed break down will be published in 2 days.

They always highlight the highest and group the rest.

Before Tony arrived back we were given daily county breakdown in case numbers apart from counties with cases under 5.

Anyone know what the backlog is, I've it at around 200, add that to the numbers tomorrow we could see another 600+ day. And around 300 cases in Dublin.

Or else the people with nowhere else to go are more noticeable now that number of people going to work, shopping etc has massively dropped.

Donegal was bad before their neighbours.

Dont think so. Derry and strabane numbers went through the roof. Lifford which is only over the river from strabane then shot up. Until derry and strabane level off numbers will continue to be high unless they ban cross border travel as a lot people from both sides would work shop across the border.

nursing home residents are lost causes?

Its morphine our old are getting

Ventilators and wired up to machines is not a way I would like to go at 80

Feel bad for them with no visitors, they are like young kids at that age, just want company

I thought you were bothered by the fact we are not using all the levels! Because of all the other non-public health effects. You just can't do that overnight and it's based on an assumption that the end of October will be chaos. Nobody can say that off a set of projections and even 4 weeks of planning can do a lot.
