Protestors shouting "fake news" over Richard Chambers on VM news. Can that lot be round up and shipped off to an island somewhere? What a bunch of knuckle draggers

The media coverage of the virus is unbalanced and is full of scaremongering.

They're the one who should be rounded up and shipped off to an island somewhere. What a bunch of knuckle draggers.

The usual attack that happens when vaccines are mentioned:rolleyes: The discussion wasn't will you take the vaccine or even should people take the vaccine. It was about why people might not. You also failed to notice the bit where I said that I am personally very pro-vaccine.

Nope I didn't miss any of your post:rolleyes: But if you are going to speculate on reasons why people might not take a vaccine I think it is important to include the facts on the actual risk.

You are speculating why they might not take it, i am pointing out why those reasons are not very valid. I think now more than ever it is important that people know the facts around vaccines and not be influenced by speculation.

By the middle of next year, there will be no restrictions and life will be back to normal. People will have run out of patience with any restrictions by then, and will want to lead their lives. And the vaccine will dim the worst effects. The virus is bad, but nowhere near fatal enough to lead to ongoing restrictions for ever.

Agree with all above barring "by middle of next year". Don't think populations will have patience to last that long!

Claire came accross an ejit who was flabbergasted at the fact Ireland wouldnt be shut down on the advice of a Medical response team concerned only with Covid and no other health conditions.

She's totally overrated imo. Always looking for a stupid angle with a perplexed confused look on her face which fails in its intended purpose to look clever.

I'd say they checked behind the cushions of the seats today for the absolute maximum possible.

I genuinely don't see why. That's a different discussion entirely.

No not worrying, something you'd expect with a virus that is endemic at this stage.

Yes it's likely endemic but it doesn't change much really, we don't have healthcare systems built to withstand the extra hospital care needed from this endemic disease. Therefore yes we need to continue to try and stop it, whether it's endemic or not.

Interesting that there seems to be no clusters in schools as such, just individual or family cases

Lockdowns have all but eliminated flu season in the southern hemisphere. Hopefully it will be the same here.

Am I looking at that wrong or has Covid deaths replaced influenza deaths?

Wouldn't be surprised to hear about more school transmissions too. I believe NPHET were protecting the government on some issues, not anymore.

The media don’t have to be balanced. Their job is to report facts. Long may it continue and long may they report.

Sending journalists to an island, well it happened during the Sri Lankan civil war when the reporting of the truth became too inconvenient for the government and establishment. Not going to happen here though :). This is a democracy.

On RTE now the monumental fook up in nursing homes moves across to phase 2.

One of the residents from that Nursing Home in Laois was transfered to another care home and has since tested positive. Now all that home is to be tested.

As many as possible in pubs and very few in schools, to conveniently fit the media narrative.

Thats an interesting point. Unless the numbers begin to fall significantly, they won't be able to justify a reduction to level 4.
