Could be around ~450 cases announced this evening if they clear the backlog

If backlog cases are included 414 is the max amount of cases I count that could be reported tonight.

I wonder if the British idea of "social bubbles" gain more traction? Each household effectively only meets with a short list of about 2-3 other households during the length of the restrictions. If three families are in the same bubble, then they can meet at the same time. And as most people have siblings, there'd be a good bit of overlap in the bubbles.

As it stands right now, people can meet as many people as they want just not together.

Donnelly never really got off the ground as a minister for health which is probably why we are seeing less of him. The trampoline comments ruined his credibility early on.

"Never really got off the ground " lol

Yes. But only if both parties have done the safe pass course in forklift driving. Obviously.

Is full licence needed or learner permit allowed?

For those still bewildered by the new plan Simon Carswell has made a good fist of explaining it in the IT, complete with infographic.

Its a non story in relation to schools. Hysteria around schools is poisoning the discourse in this country and stopping parents sending children to school.

I know NOBODY who is not sending their kids to school.
If you do then you are mixing with some silly people.
Stop trying to make something out of a simple statement of fact.

What about all those parents who wont get holidays until the 23rd but will have kids off from the 10th

Have you not been working from home? Or maybe you have been but are no longer? Could you work from home the last 10 working days? Could you company shift your xmas break early at least for some of you?

If the government had put xmas in the plan they could have shifted the xmas holidays for everyone.

It wont cover all familys as some people have always worked over the xmas. In one particular job I had, I worked every xmas, which gave time off to those with kids. MY post is a starting point of a discussion that the government should have had, over the last month.

If you are able to give us a general idea of your work/family situation, maybe we all here, could see what other creative but within the guide lines options there are, with keeping everyone safe as top priority.

PS over a month ago myself and friends were discussing Halloween/Samhain and ideas to do it safely, cant believe the government forgot Christmass

I know 10-15 families whose kids aren't going to school. Simply because they're scared.

School is a horrible prospect without any virus to think about

The entire cabinet is entering isolation.

The one from Ballincollig in Cork is another non-story, not a single person in the school has been deemed a close contact and the school remains open as normal.

Well that is good but I would like to know if even one child in a school any of my kids were in tested positive, the media can't name the child so instead names the school

I'm not a parent, just an auntie and I'm more anxious and nervous about kids in school than the kids parents :p

If it wasn't so serious it would be funny.

Preaching to everyone to take personal responsibility and not go into work with symptoms and contact your GP.
The CMO had to tell him

In fairness , I don't think Minister Donnelly has quite understood anything since he started , from dangers of bouncy play to symptoms of Covid , so he should be given some easier work to do , and give the job to a person with a little more cop on .

The last thing they want to do at this nadir of popularity is to cancel even more things! I think they want to avoid even thinking about it but I'd say October for a Hallowe'en decision and November for Christmas.

Ah lads you really couldn't make this up.

Either someone close to Ryan has tested postive (he was self isolating pending result) or they've a fairly high degree of suspension around Donnelly
