    Dither dither dither dither Batman.....
Batman and Robin there on fire with clarity around the restrictions and no guts to put Dublin into a higher level. Just more dither, fudge and spoof.
These additional extra blah blah measures just muddy the water and make it more difficult to comply with, as there’s so many exceptions to everything. Hang tight and keep that big red phone handy, we’re in for a rough winter in terms of usual pressure on healthcare and deaths, even outside of covid19

They won’t put Dublin on level 3 as there is no way it is palatable to close restaurants and food bars , it would be crippling and the final nail for many in the industry

Or are they allowed open in level 3? I’m confused

According to RTE, next review Oct 4th

I'm due a weekend break in Waterford on the 9th. :(

On the one hand I'm bricking it that travel will be restricted, on the other hand, today just convinced me that they haven't the bottle to begin to even try to enforce it.

    Ah, I missed that one.
The idea here is to minimise close contacts for everyone in Dublin regardless, but they should have just gone to level 3.
    Or indeed the ever-clear document:
To be fair, that is clear.

At home, you can have six people indoors or outdoors.
Away from home, you can have six indoors or 15 outdoors.

Donnelly on RTE News saying he's hearing the opposition on this, this being the confusion as to what Dublin's at.

It's nothing to do with the opposition, it's all down to him.

Same in Kerry a few weeks ago. You'd forget everything, it's lovely!

Give it an hour, Leo won't be able to help himself and throw some spanner in the works.

Love the notion of 2 & a bit level, specially for Dublin.

My initial take on this terribly exciting plan? Absolutely nothing is new, nothing, Zilch, Nada. It's seems 200, 300 new cases a day, not at all a concern. Just bizzare stuff, thankfully however, Eaomon Ryan not in attendance, that would have been just unbearable.

I can't believe that will be the case.

19 days at 5% case growth per day will mean a large increase by the time the review takes places.

108 cases in Dublin yesterday. 19 days at 5% growth would see us notifying over 270 cases assuming an equivalent day of testing.
And that 5% isn't static either. Could get worse.

They're going to have to perform an embarrassing u-turn very soon and put Dublin on level 3 or risk losing any semblance of control.

Never in thirteen threads have I seen complete agreement on every single issue. Not even during Golf Gate. Well done government, you've done what I never thought was possible - united the people.

I think it's clear the government have badly failed us. Not only FF and FG but also the greens. Any chance they'd piss off and give someone else a go.

Oh wait, I take it all back. The plan isn't as clear as it first appears.

In level 3, under the heading of "Bars, cafes & restaurants", they simply say, "Additional restrictions for indoor dining".

Which would lead one to believe they can open, but perhaps table sizes have to be reduced to 2, or 4 or something.

But in the overview at the top, they state that pubs will be closed, and indoor dining in restaurants not permitted.

What a mess. Two weeks they were working on this, and this is what we get. FFS.

Yeah listening to this now, blaming the opposition for confusion and essentially deflecting to NPHET.

Its fućk all to do with the opposition

So Dubliners are "strongly advised" to stay in Dublin.

That will put the fear of God into the thousands who will head to Bray this weekend.

I interpreted it as more a LOKdown style set-up, where restaurants/dining is restricted to food served outdoors and takeaway only.

Donnelly asked about delays in testing and he's saying oh that could be down to us not having the correct contact details or not being able to get in touch with them for a test.

    Utter load of nonsense

I have Irish holidays from end sept to mid October. So now I'm wondering what to do, or what I'm supposed to do. Cancel all the accomodation (even though Govt was encouraging us to staycation) or ignore and go. Would like to hear their "advice" for those with current bookings elsewhere in the country.

You can download the plan here.

Pages 11-14 have it condensed into a more readable table format.

They would be better off posting this out rather than holding those press briefings with the three windbags.

ONE IS ESSENTIAL AND ONE IS NOT!

I can’t believe people are still asking these questions.

    Regarding social activity.

Absolutely schools are essential - but this is a 6-9 month plan when we're already 6 months into the issue, surely at some point we must consider social activity somewhat essential?

It can't be expected that people severely limit social activity for 15 months, it just won't happen. This plan has a max of 3 households regardless in the best case scenario level.

Well done to the Irish government on there plan
You even made onto polish state news.
Where iit was being discussed by a panel
News caster turns to one of the panel and asked what the meaning of something was the panelist turns and said I really don't understand it , the news caster asked you don't understand the wording he replied no I understand the wording very well but I don't understand there plans it's doesn't make sense and is contradictory

Its beyond nonsense, my son was referred for a test last Monday. I rang all day Tuesday/Wednesday and I was told I would get a call back as I wanted to get a test myself so I could return to work. Thankfully my son got his test on Thursday and got the all clear on Saturday but I still have had no contact from them.
