Whatever about city or Liverpool , I honestly don’t think there is a chance in hell of arsenal getting 3rd

I know Emery laid a lot of groundwork for Arteta but I can’t see it either. Even Ian Wright couldn’t bring himself to imagine them any higher than fourth.

Both Utd and City were involved in Europe so they need 30 days break. Technically Spurs and Wolves aren't meant to play till Monday but somehow Spurs got shafted.

Why Spurs? They weren't in the latter stages of europe.

They had a second leg to play against Bayern

Why is Marcelo Bielsa thought of so highly? As far as I can see, bar a successful stint with Chile, he is no more then a journeyman manager. Failed to make it out of the WC group with a decent enough Argentina team. Didn’t set the world a light at Athletic Bilbao, threw a strop at Marseilles, Lazio and Lille.

It's hard to explain the Bielsa-Leeds United fusion in a few sentences. It transcends the usual "manager arrives, changes tactics, signs players" routine. It's more "dormant giant finds character big enough to change it from the cleaning staff up, club completely moulds itself around his philosophy".

He is a manager who landed into a team of midtable Championship players and transformed everything. Not just by coaching them as individuals to the point where Kalvin Phillips started for England, and average players like Stuart Dallas developed beyond all recognition. But he introduced a style that has analysts drooling, crushing opponents with staggering possession stats. There are essays written about Leeds tactics and the way he extracts everything out of players to commit to his theories, I can't hope to summarise them.

But it's so much more than that, it transcends football. As Patrick Bamford said, he doesn't want to mould better players, he wants to mould better people. His first act was to send the players out collecting litter for hours so they would understand what supporters do to buy a ticket to watch them play. He walks around the training facilities looking for dust, because he believes perfection starts at that level. Conversely, far from treating cleaning staff as servile to the players, Leeds were the first club where players took a pay cut to ensure cleaners didn't get laid off, because he sees them as being crucial to his project. Pundits say he's like nothing they've ever seen before, humble, modest, happy to spend hours analysing tactics with them.

Now, it could have been up there with the biggest car crash ever in management, the most idiosyncratic manager taking over a club that has lurched from one disaster to another. There was a very small chance it would work out well. It has far exceeded anything Leeds fans hoped for. Bielsa is revered in Yorkshire, not just as some successful manager, but as a person who is doing everything the right way. Obviously no Leeds fan realistically expects anything other than a loss tomorrow...but as long as Bielsa is on the sideline they'll know anything is possible...

Even with playing in GW1, Chelsea get the exact same length of break as Man City and 3 days longer than Man United.

Both City and Utd played a week after Chelsea and Wolves. 30 Days would have been on a Wednesday or Thursday so makes sense to put off till the following weekend.

BBC asks 24 pundits for their predictions. 1st place evenly split between Liverpool and Man city, apart from Chris Waddle.

I think Liverpool and City are coming to the end of their current cycle. It's very difficult to maintain a consistent level for multiple years especially when not replacing players like Liverpool.

So I do think there could well be a surprise but I'd say either of United and Chelsea are just as likely to end up 5th.

I wouldn't be predicting a United or Chelsea win but I can see the madness behind it.

I'd expect it to be City, Pool, Chelsea, United, Arsenal and Spurs in that order.

With United and Arsenal coming down to the end for CL football

Didn't set the world a light at Bilbao? He bought a team who's only policy is signing players who are Basque to the Europa League final ffs, they haven't achieved anything of this level since.

Think City will win handily enough this season then Liverpool comfortably second think it’s big mistake if they don’t sign Thiago or anyone other than the Greek left back

Chelsea really should push Liverpool for 2nd with the spend they have done and quality but feel they’ll be in top 4 battle with united and arsenal

ElNeny easily the best Egyptian in the League so far this year.

    :pac:

Fulham looked good in the Championship at times, weak at the back. Need another striker to bounce off Mitrovic.

Their defence got them relegated last time out, not that it will matter much today but have they invested much in that position??

What's the point having a player to bounce off a player who is starting on the bench?

It would be nice for the first day of the season oif there were 6 or 7 games at least, starting at 3 o clock.

They consistently finish in the Europa League spots in La Liga since he’s left. Got to the 1/4 finals since he’s left. Reached round of 16 too. Hardly some minnows..

You can see Fulham being whipping boys this season.

Goal 3, Game 1 of the new season.

Martin Keown "you won't see a better goal all season ... team goal all season".
