Not outraged as such, just baffled by the stupidity involved.

They're 18 and 20. Stupidity is expected at that age, no matter who they are.

In normal circumstances fair enough, have an orgy by all means, just in the current Covid situation I don't think it was too hard to ask them to stick to a few guidelines.

Cant see an issue as long as they wore masks. (that was a joke)

I just find it incredible that they could be so thick. The are in an islation bubble. This will have been made clear several times, and they go do this.

two young lads... but that is no real excuse. their responsibilities will have been made clear, and they have been found wanting.

on the lowest level they put the England vs Denmark game in danger.
they then put club results in danger (neither may be available first matches)

And above that, and more importantly, if they were to have caught Covid-19 from this breach they put their loved ones at risk.

I'm not going to look at either player being cast-aside, but at the same time I do think they will be due some form of punishment from their clubs. For example I can see them being fined wages equal to the time they might now be required to self isolate (having broken the guidelines that would have had them exempt from self-isolation)

I think that's a great point by Laurie. If there's no travel restriction is there a reason why they can't just bang whoever they want?

If Greenwood/Foden went to Iceland on their holidays banged whoever, came back to then train, is the outcome not the exact same? They don't have to quarantine after visiting? Or is it different for footballers?

    Strong response from City.

Catching covid might be the issue..

It's not the first incident for players of both clubs recently, so I am not surprised really. There was a few players at Man City to breach lockdown, didn't Kyle Walker organise some big house party with women too? You'd have to question the type of leadership these players are getting at both club & country level.

Personally, I don't think it's the worst thing in the world. They are young lads chasing their hole. But they are in a strict bubble at the minute, especially in a foreign country where extra measures are in place for people entering the country, so a bit more cop on should be in play. They played an extremely risky game.

I'd say Foden is getting some abuse today from the girlfriend.

One club makes a strong statement another blows it off really.

The issue is Iceland have a self-isolation period for all travelers entering (and maybe testing on leaving?) which England were able to ignore because they would be in a bubble under strict guidelines. That is the real issue here. I think the travel to Denmark is the same, so as the players were outside of the bubble they can't continue on (or eat/train with the squad).

In terms of traveling back to England they have no real issue on the English side, and should be ok from a self-isolation perspective in no restrictions are in place.

But what they should be getting punished over is breaking the guidelines that were in place, willfully.

I think that is a harsh characterisation. And I don't know if that will end up being the full of their comment either. It is clearly a response to a question, we are yet to see the club release an official statement (which should have already happened, imo).

But at the same time, I would like to think United will (or have) spoken to Greenwood first to discuss the situation and would make a comment after it. The first conversations should be between club and player.

Both statements are just words. Unless they fine/drop either player, its all PR.

Thanks Mitch that clears it up

You have the UK government chastising their people for not going back to work and blaming young people for the spike in the virus. With that kind of mixed messaging it's no surprise stuff like this happen. I half think the Tories have realised this thing may solve the looming pensions crises.

Don't be surprised if there is a story in the next few days of a player from one clubs involved being being praised for saving a cat from a tree, or stopping a thief from snatching a handbag, in an attempt to divert the attention ;)

Player 1 - 'what are you coming to the hotel for'

Player 2 - 'what do you think'

    :D

So then a personal betrayal (his "childhood sweetheart") and breaking the whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas rule plus something about Covid 19 rules. A right mess.

especially Foden who has a missus and a kid at home

think Greenwood has a missus too

Greenwood & his missus broke up in May I'm seeing.

Foden is still with his long-term girlfriend & Mother of his child.

Harry Maguire setting the standards at Greenwood's Manchester United.

Kyle Walker setting the standards at Foden's Manchester City.

    This is what happens.

They're old enough not to need anyone to look up to or to learn from in situations like this mind & that's probably a good thing given the 'role-models' both currently at their respective clubs.

In saying that, Walker, Greenwood & Foden all spent their night with the possibility of being inside a woman where as Maguire spent his night in a jail cell so maybe not comparable.

Bad tactics by the manager of course - always pair a kid with an old hand (someone who won't get caught so easily!). Mind you Greenwood might have got Maguire for guidance :pac:
