The reason there's been an spike in cases is because there has been an increase in testing. If you increased the amount of IQ tests you'd get a spike in morons too.

That isn't really how it works. You see if you were tested you would have been a moron before and after the test. The test doesn't change that at all.

The situation will be evaluated by experts and they will decide what is or isn't needed.

Any lockdown requires a very large amount of public compliance, the experts can decide whatever they want, a lockdown doesn’t exist unless we, the public, say so.

You say that like you are the public. You may think in your small cluster of looney friends that some huge resistance exists to all this but back in the land of normal people that I know. Most people are happy to be compliant and understand the risks and look on it horror at the people who can't show the decency to act in the best interest of the public health of us all.

I am the public, and I have no looney friends. I’m speaking here for myself, yes I will wear a mask when in shops etc, but I won’t be restricted to where I can go, how far I can go, and how long I can go for, imaginary restrictions or not.

Your right. Fight the power. Good on you. FREEDOM.

The cases in Dublin are mainly due to house gatherings.

Locking down will only amplify the problem.

Whether we like it or not, people want to socialise with normality. The only place you can really do that now is at home.

    Closing businesses will solve nothing.

I want a new Mercedes AMG coupe, that doesn’t mean I can enable that wish, my bank account doesn’t allow it.

People want to socialize with normality, me too, however common sense, caring, and a selfless mindset while we are in a state never before experienced in the modern history of this planet and country .... doesn’t allow it.

Fûckwits need to suck it up with their needy bastard ways and be part of the fix, not the problem....needy pisswits.

You’re watching too much braveheart there chief, no anti establishment agenda here, if you believe enforced restrictions will help you not to spread any infection to others then great stuff, the experts can help you. For some of us it’s not necessary.

    We have experienced illness before.
We have had 6 in ICU before with the same illness.
We have illnesses that kill way more than Covid.
Hunger kills way more than Covid. It could easily be solved if the will was there.

Media hysteria has led people to think that this is some extremely dangerous disease.

But so far it has only killed a tiny number of people. Most of whom were already fairly close to death already and/or above life expectancy.

I don’t care about a Mercedes. I’ll have friends over if I want though.

And if you had covid would have had it before you were tested too duh

Some spikes present themselves without the necessity for testing, the symptoms are overwhelmingly apparent.

It’s amazing how all the medical experts and epidemiologists have been so heavily swayed by media hysteria yet it takes the uneducated idiot on the street to see through it all...

Seriously you need to stop thinking everyone has an obsession with material things. A merc is an absolutely useless for your state of mental wellbeing but socializing with other people is absolutely crucial. I'd rather not have a pot to piss in and be happy and have a decent social life than be the richest man in the world and feel miserable inside which is what lockdown is making people feel.

Common sense is to socialize normally and not to live in fear of virus which is highly unlikely to kill you.

They won't save you from sh1t. They are all part of media scare mongering all part of the problem reaction solution.

If the virus is making you unhappy of course we should put a few hundred more people in the ground.

What's a few more bodies compared to you having a decent social life?

This, fûcking Hell, that fact that it NEEDS spelling out and people want to debate it,

Instead of pissing tens of thousands of euros, probably well north of €200k, against a wall over the years I could have used the money to save the lives of hundreds of people in the developing world. I didn't though. Am I scum for valuing my social life over bodies in the ground?

As your actions have no bearing on the spread of Coronavirus and don't appear to have the consequence of putting others at risk, your question may be better suited to personal issues.

Some UCD (I think) professor was on newstalk and said the majority of the new cases were in West Dublin and that we should lock down that area.

Hopefully if anymore lockdowns are called its for the right reason and an unemotional decision.

So not a big lockdown then, just a Lidl one?

Absolutely not ever. Over my dead body.

I've no doubt your dead body can be factored into a pandemic algorithm Restard81. It's definitely a variable to weigh.

The road to self-knowledge starts with a simple question. The middle way is the best way. But the publicans of Ireland thank you for your plenary indulgences. Maith an fear.

I literally chose to go on the piss instead of saving lives. I still do. But it's a ridiculous analogy isn't it? Just like telling people they'll kill someone's granny by going for a few pints. In the only country in Europe where this happens...

Is this actually looking possible? I don't live in Dublin but am back in college in a few weeks in Dublin so I guess I'd have to do online classes or something if it goes ahead. Hoping it doesn't but it makes sense if numbers keep spiking...

They may do cluster lockdowns in the Dublin region, it would be very difficult to lock the whole region down, without the country completely falling over

They won't lockdown Dublin, and if they do, like before it'll be filled with exemptions so as to be largely pointless.

People will still be crossing all over the city for work, to care for vulnerable relatives or other essential reasons. Likewise people will still be coming in and out of the city for the same reason.

Garda enforcement will be minimal after the initial show, and that assumes they are given the legal authority to do so in the first place. NPHET will tell people not to have others round for dinner etc but the backlash to giving AGS the powers to break up such gatherings mean it'll only be a recommendation.

Lockdowns don’t work. All they do is press pause and the same issues happen once the lockdown is lifted. See NZ, etc.

Pointless exercise in screwing the economy.
