    How would Kearys end up with a brand new car? 7 Miles? I thought all their stuff was traded in?

    Ex-rental or was intended for rental except not used for obvious reasons.

    That's the old Captur too, so they just want to get rid before they offload the new model 'ex rental' Capturs.

    It seems to be a D reg too that would suggest direct from Europcar/etc.....I see loads of Capturs/Qashqais all parked up for months in their base in Santry.

    This might sound a bit mad, but I do enormous mileage, albeit it's done in stages. Like, I might do a full week of 16 hour driving days, but then might not be in the car doing that level of driving for a month (i'll still have a fair bit of driving to do, but just not that intense).

    Something I've pondered is would it be worth my while buying a nice car that I like, and then renting a car for the week of really busy driving. I've never had a credit card, which is why I've never tried this, but is there an obvious reason it wouldn't work? I presume one overgrown hedge rubbing down the side of the car on a tight boreen, and that's me nailed to the wall with a big expense from the rental company?

    Renault never supplied diesel engines to Ford or Citroen and vice versa. Dacia are a budget brand of Renault and use some of their parts. Ford use Peugeot/Citroen derived diesel engines which have nothing to do with Renault.

    I couldn't see renting a car working out financially.

    I sat in a Duster before and I couldn't make myself comfortable and looking at that drab interior with exposed screwheads would depress me. Can't see it being comfy on motorways either.

    I'd much rather a 1.5 Fluence/Megane with same engine. I had a Megane coupe with the 1.5 dci and I really like it.

    The only issue I can really see with it (and the Avensis, no offence BA), is that it's a saloon. I know from experience I can get by with a saloon, but it really helps me out when I've a hatchback/large boot space.

    Non taken, only thing I'd say is the Fluence and Avensis opening is pretty big, more do than a saloon Mondeo if that's what you had. But if you need good access a hatch is the way to go.

    Nice looking car, definitely takes my interest. I don't know enough about the UK importing craic (well, NI.. I wouldn't have the time nor patience to go to the UK, but for NI i have no idea what way it works nowadays with NOX and stuff).


    I really think prices on donedeal, seen as it's a .ie site, if you're listing a UK/NI reg car, you should be obligated to list the actual purchase price (if that makes sense?)

    If importing you need to be going euro6 compliant diesels as Nox charge is on top of vrt....

    It's no longer worthwhile say bringing in anything under 2015 or 2016 depending on the Nox value....
    Near €5k if it's high Nox on top of vrt

    It's a .co.uk site also. People in the north sell and buy stuff on there too you know.

    I agree it's hassle trying to compare cars though and then having to figure out vrt etc but I wouldn't lay the blame with donedeal.

    That really is dependant on the engine rather than the reg. A 2012 520d or A4 tdi has quite low Nox.

    That UK red Megane is the newer 1.6 dci engine, with low nox.

    €7,50 for 10 minutes, no point wasting money in Ireland really, just go abroad for three weeks and have heaps of fun. Repeat every 6 months ideally.

    Yeah they put that 1.5 dci in the GLA.

    That engine was also put into Renaults, Dacia and Nissan and that Merc GLA thing!

    No disrespect to Renault, or their fans, but really when you're paying Mercedes money, you're entitled to expect it to come with an engine built by them, especially at C-class prices.
