This is just extraordinary, that's it I'm afraid for pubs reopening, just beggars belief and with 200 new cases reported yesterday, shocking

Wouldn't tar all pubs with the same brush. Berlin have previous for flouting rules, both before covid and when they reopened.

This will probably see then lose their restaurant licence now at last.

It amazes me to that these 'rogue' pubs/nightclubs who think they are that clever to flout the regulations forget that mobile phones with cameras exist and can send something like this viral on twitter within hours and will inevitably lead to the permanent shutting down of their business

I'm certainly not but the powers that be most certainly will, I can't begin to imagine the rage of rural and none food pub owners this morning.

Isn’t the place in question a restaurant?

I’d say we’re just seeing what goes on at house parties the length and breadth of the country each and every weekend.

Very bad PR for the restaurant in question which will now most likely have their license to operate revoked and will be used by media and government to keep the pubs closed and review restaurants serving alcohol too.

I wonder could there be any legal trick or loophole that would allow for places that are forced to shut to sue Berlin directly for that shìte?

I would hold back on the outrage and judgement until the full facts are known, for all we know it could be the case that this session "just had to happen at this time" like the first BLM march in Dublin

The facts are right there to see.

Not sure what you mean. According to the journal:

The videos, which have been widely shared online, are believed to have been filmed at a brunch event at Berlin D2 yesterday.

A brunch event, it wasn't even closing time. Dopes.

It was 'Baked Brunch' organised by an influencer on instagram.
I think the doors were closed to the public actually. The full story is still on her instagram, she's probably asleep.

Next day from hell coming up..

The story has actually been edited now, as in some of the clips are gone, the bottle sharing and wearing faces with each other etc.
    Good move.

You'd like to think the authorities would close this place, but somehow I lack confidence in that.

Jess brennan whoever she is is organising and profiting from her brunch events therefore responsible. Gardai should take action and charge her and all involved, clearly breaking the law with a complete disregard for public health. Minimum 6 month sentence without susension

    Not surprised by it.

I was at my local in North Kildare last night sitting in the smoking area with my meal and pint (Not allowed indoor dining due to LOKdown).
Anyway at a big table near me there was also a 21st in full swing, hugging kissing and jumping all over each other.
Point is, I think after all this time the teens and twenty-somethings are just going to behave this way when they meet up and narcotics are mixed in. Means we are way off having the pubs open for the benefit of boring older folk like me....

What did the LVA mean when they said 'that business should be shut down immediately, it is not a pub and does not hold a pub licence'? Are they really saying that all blame lies solely on the event company or was it not part of a licenced premises?

Apparently the establishment does not have a liquor licence. If true talk about a nightmare for the pub industry on the day of the launch of the we don't want sympathy campaign.

What law did they break? No 6mts in prison for not wearing a mask in a pub. Guards can object to licence renewal that's about the height of it I think, they may get a HSA audit but don't need to let them inside the door if they don't want to.

It was the person that organised the ‘event’ who plastered it all over Snapchat.

    ****ing cretin she is.

Which is why such behaviour is exactly the reason that wet pubs will not be legally allowed to reopen anytime in the near future.

    Was in Berlin d2 once

It was maybe 18 months ago

I walked through it on a sat night

Mad house is how I would describe it. Drug taking, v v drunk ppl etc

Looks like the chickens have come home to rost

    Jay Burke apparently runs it

He denied all to RTÉ earlier but has since said he’s absolutely mortified at the video

I bet Jess Brennan is a shill and organised this to keep the focus off the meat plants.

I mean, brunch almost always features meat. Definitely worth investigating.
