Nice enough car, but it's not a tom-tom version is it?

Picture shows standard dash, why mention it?

Motor tax for last 3 months changes, cornmarket insurance for last change of ownership over that - just do online quote and type in the registration number.

Why does it matter that it’s an import

No to me, but matters to some. Often reflected in final price.

Number of previous owners, history, insurance etc.

On a 2k car, I wouldn’t have any issues if it was from the uk.

    This.
At this price point, people expect a full history and number of owners etc, which is pie in the sky.
a 2k or less car will have high miles and very little history, if any. Now, not always of course but this is what you should expect.
Anyway, you should know what to look for in a car at that price and it isn't for the non car type people if you know what I mean.
If the car is right, drives right, mileage stacks up etc, you can indeed get a fully functioning NCT'd car for well under 2k. It will be old and a good bit of work done but who cares at that price.

What are these like? Anything to watch out for apart from the usual?

  • Registered Users Posts: 118 ✭✭ccarr

I brought my last car 3 years ago 03 Leon with 225,000 miles he had full service history and it only cost €650. So can get odd with full service history

Slow and a bit on the thirsty side but a nice place to be. Oh, listen out for clunky front suspension, not as common in the lighter engined petrols but they're not immune either. Check the usual suspects, uneven tyre wear, clutch on its last legs etc.

If it's true he's spent the money on it they're not the worst but you would probably find an aero model for not a whole lot more and they're far better imo.
