    True.

But why are Google employees working from home?

Its not just Google. I work with a us based multi national, and not only do they require us to work from home indefinately, they've removed our accesses to the office.

I have 1 under 10, only way to get him to wear a mask is to tie his hands behind his back and his ankles together.

    Again, that is not reasonable.
Asking nicely, plus peer pressure will do the trick, hopefully. Try, bun not force them.

No face coverings required thankfully :)

Odd use of a smiley. They're proven to be of help in a health and safety capacity.

I just explained how our experiences don't match. He's well aware that not wearing them, can mean he'll end up going to less places as a result.

1000 extra teachers for second level.

What classrooms will they teach in, exactly?

I really hope you're not a teacher...I didn't realise the Country of Ireland and our younger generation were represented by an area of Inner City Dublin...I'm actually disgusted at your comments pertaining to all young people being rapists and abusers.
You're also claiming 8 year olds are adults...again I find this absolutely shocking and showing no understanding of young children and their issues.
If there's a particular issue with an area such as Second Level Inner City Dublin - bring it to the attention of management. No primary students, particularly our younger children should be made suffer because of people holding disturbing views such as yourself.
Well it really depends where you come from dosent it , how uncomfortable it is. If you have the money to privately educate your kids and protect them , good on you. But they will still mix and see the internet and unless your prepared to take hold of this and home school them your not changing anything.

I have a friend who works for google. Work from home now until June 2021 if they want. Have relative who works for another MNC and they will work from home until at least January. But teachers cant work from home like that to be fair. I hated the online learning and cant wait to go back.

And you are going to keep having to do that as you are deluded if you think schools are going back full time before a vaccine.

    Well now: Who was deluded?

Id think you may hope I am a teacher because I will point this out. You are deluded if you think any different. Despite what you may think, I love kids but this is the new reality. It dosent matter where you are from, it is totally up to you now to educate your kids or they will be no different from what I have described.

    Looks pretty comprehensive so far

1,080 extra teachers will be added to post-primary schools at a cost of €53 million to help reduce class sizes.

Additional substitution, supervision, guidance counsellors and psychologists will also be included in the package.

Lunch breaks and school start times are set to be staggered, while the wearing of face coverings will not be compulsory in classes.

Face coverings will be compulsory for all post-primary students when travelling on or waiting for public transport, with the exception of those with medical or special educational needs.

€75 million will be allocated towards capital to help schools prepare their buildings and classrooms for reopening.

Almost €85 million in additional funding will be provided to allow schools to employ replacement teachers, special needs assistants and admin staff.

This funding will be used in the instance where staff members identified by the HSE as ‘very high risk’ are advised to cocoon.

Schools will spread the virus into the community. No delusion going on here they will. It depends on how much we value life. But, illl say Ireland dosent have the copacity of Germany etc to deal with it so give it a couple of weeks and they are closing down again and the govt are faced with a massive bill for legal actions.

    Talk at Christmas

Dragging us off topic but that's absolute rubbish. As the many many absolutely wonderful children and young adults that we all know, who have been through the public school system, will attest to.

But the quote was about being deluded if they would fully open in September, now it’s Christmas.

if it's not safe to go into a shop for 5 minutes without a mask everyone will have to wear masks or visors In schools it's as simple as that

You're ignoring what my post was in reference to (nothing unusual there). You said schools would not reopen fully before a vaccine. Accept you were wrong and the other poster was not, as you called them, deluded.

The rest of your post is just deflection.

I've no plans to converse with you at Christmas nor at any time, if I can avoid it.

But it is perfectly safe, only 10 out of 4000 employees of Lidl & similar numbers for Aldi contracted Covid. Similar numbers for other supermarkets that have been open throughout this pandemic with numbers as high as 700-900 per day.

"The plan recognises that some children who have complex medical or special educational needs may not be able to return to school at the end of August because the relevant public health guidelines indicate they are at “very high risk”.

Schools will have discretion to manage and redistribute their teaching support resources in order to best meet the learning needs of these students."

If anyone is looking for info on medically vulnerable children, this is all I could find. I'd be ever so grateful if anyone comes across anything else if you could share it here please.

Typically enormous rooms, with lots of ventilation. Absolute opposite of a stuffed classroom

Do people who write this type of stuff think of the conquences for kids of being forced to wear masks.for god sake grow up.we didn’t need masks back in March,April time when the thing was at its height.let children be children and get back to education as normally as possible

Great I am happy to implement what Aldi and Lidl have into the classroom.

Limited numbers in store and most people are there for less than 30 minutes, staggered entry, social distancing of 2 metres, stop go system at door and visors adn masks and perspex screens at the till. Hand sanitizers at the door.

    Daft comparison but then expected.

Mad that we have all these protections in place for almost every other worker in the country but they can't be arsed protecting teachers. It's actually a terrible plan, and I'd broadly support the current government and their measures up to now.

Social distancing being 'encouraged' with older children. LOL. Sure let's just open the pubs and be done with a second wave because this plan for our children and the protection of those who teach them is a load of absolute horse manure

why are the government introducing legislation for masks now then

why are the 160 tds spaced out in the 50000 euro a day 2000 seater convention centre

why are shops like Van's in kildare village using 3 hour virtual queues and not letting customers in when there is no one in the shop

why are kids asked to wear masks on the school buses and public transport

why are pubs without food still not open..

the list of questions goes on but yet it is suddenly safe to throw all the healthy safety rules out the window when it comes to schools?!

Don't worry they'll hire more teachers.

I'm sure there'll be tons signing up to work an employer that has no regard for their safety

It wasn’t me that did the comparing, it was a poster in favour of masks for young children that referred to supermarkets and shops. What supermarkets do you see 2 metre social distancing? Because I see zero social distancing in supermarkets I’m in and no reflection on daily case numbers.

Schools can't do social distancing. The classrooms are nowhere near big enough.

Is anyone surprised with another half arsed bs made by government. I'm not, got delivered what I expected. Now will just have to wait with what our school will come up.

Can I just make the point that a Lidl worker died from Covid in Donegal. Contracted it in the store, very sadly.
