    You can't do either.

I love how the insentient coronavirus has decided to conform to human foreward planning and decide to stop being a substantial threat just as the masses began to wake up the economic ramifications of sustained lockdown restrictions. We could have known 3 months ago this was what was going to happen.

I'll bet you were one of the people in January 2000 going "Would you look at that! No planes fell out of the sky, I could still get money from the ATM, and all the traffic lights still worked! It was all a big hullaballoo about nothing!"

The reality is that the plan brought in to "flatten the curve" was largely adhered to, and proved highly effective, to the extent that some restrictions could be lifted early.

Hopefully people stick to the remaining restrictions, and we don't get delays, further restrictions re-imposed, or a second wave. Given the state of beaches during the good weather, I guess we'll find out in about 2 weeks.

A friend changes counties when they leave their driveway. That's the official position, I can't see much attempt to police it except for blatant violations. With a lot more people working over the next phase it will see longer journeys than that.

The 20k or within your county is to stop Dubs (1/3 of the population) from invading every corner of the country before the 29th. It will do that.

Will Pennies be open on the 15th June? Asking for a friend

They can open from Monday but aren’t ready quite clearly. I’d say it’ll be a few days later. Easier for small shops to open immediately

Tiddlywinks have been deemed non-essential sorry

What's the deal with cocooners? It said in the original draft for phase 2 that they would be "allowed" to go shopping - this is still happening I presume? Although my mother couldn't take it anymore after 10 weeks of it and went out shopping for the first time yesterday :)

    Cocooning was only ever advisory.

Re the discussion about hair contamination, I thought beards were an issue both for trapping bugs and for proper use of masks

Funny. A lot of them appear afflicted with Stockholm syndrome and seem anxious to stay.

Very happy with today’s announcement. I have plans to go into town on Monday morning with my mam to get a few bits and to try to spend some money locally.

My personal training sessions are starting again on Monday (one on one sessions in a private gym), so please god I’ll shift a bit of the excess I’ve gained from not being so active.
Have booked a trip to Dingle for the end of next month too which I’m very much looking forward to.

The only thing that could make this day even better is getting the phone call to say that I’m back to work, but that won’t be happening till at least August by the looks of it. Fingers crossed the new roadmap might speed things up in a bit in that regard.

This is the first time since mid March that I’ve felt any sort of hope, and it’s so lovely to be able to enjoy a nice Friday evening without feeling a knot in the pit of my stomach with anxiety for the future.
It’s such a relief to see things finally moving in the right direction.

Shur no choice for some only to go chasing the dollar. They're not up there for the sights or the local wit :)

Great day. It had to happen the virus has died out and the state is been bled dry. They'll lift the remaining business restrictions on the 29th I reckon. All retail back is great, will take a big chunk of the covid payment.

Overall moving in the right direction but the travel restriction is very unnecessary and frustrating. And the hairdresser hate lol

I think everyone can suck it up for another 6 weeks (for the very last things to open). Today was a great day towards getting the country back to some normality.

Absolutely, fantastic to see some common sense applied to the whole situation, people trying to defend the ridiculous original turtle plan was kinda embarrassing when the numbers were tumbling.

Fair play to Leo and all concerned, pulled it out of the bag, the sheer multitude of changes to the plan just goes to show that those calling it as being far too slow compared to rest of the continent were correct.

Today is a day for congratulating Leo and all concerned for their work and their foresight to see we as a country have to move on both as safely and quickly as possible.

Even telling the kids what they could do today going forward was a huge thing seeing the smile on their faces.
