They need to form an actual government between now and the 18th and put an end to this madness. Bloody hell, I might have to seriously think about relocation at this rate. Another 18 weeks minimum of this.

Now he ****tïng on about imaginary letters he received. Reminds me of "Two pints" Kenny in his pomp.

These guys will be remembered in 20 years for how they f###ed Ireland over with the response to this.

Every other european country has restarted the economy. We are in this alone for no good reason.

No indication of why they have been extended, none. Why have they extended this?

I’m happy with that. A clear plan with a little bit of give immediately

The virus is the root cause of these problems. The lock down is a response to the threat posed by the virus.
And now people are questioning the response and why our time frame seems longer than other countries and yet we don't appear to be in a particularly poor position.

Still no clarity for those of us with family outside the travel restriction boundary.

My daughter lives 42kms from me. I travel to see her every week. Iv met checkpoints and told them where i was going and they let me through. Some give a spiel some dont but either way they dont stop me from going.

Leo's announcement lacked detail on what will be in each phase.

    Will the detail be published?

What was clear about that “plan” exactly? We don’t even know what each stage involves.

So all going well everything is open by 10th August

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,138 ✭✭✭✭JRant

This is an absolute disgrace. Nothing until 18th May, even then only some outside work and DIY shops, so another 3 weeks after that before anything meaningful. And this gives no confidence anything will even happen then. They still have no clue when to do anything.

Spain, France, Italy, the worst hit countries say their new normal will be in place by June. We haven't a clue.

We're still completely in the dark. I feel sick.

It's worse than that, we are a minimum of 5 weeks for anything other than construction to be opened up.

There was absolutely nothing clear about that.

Look at the plans released by basically every other European country for clarity. No dates for anything bar outside workers on May 18th (if we're lucky)

No provisional dates given for anything else.

So on the 18th, can we travel anywhere yeah? No mention of it. Or of the other 5 stages. What a terrible announcement.

Ill tell you whats clear electro, on the build up to the 18th of May sound bites will be released along the lines of we arent quiet where we need to be regarding testing. So on and so on until the money runs out

As frustrating as it is to be so restricted, its a solid decision to extend by 2 weeks and then slowly ease back to normality.

I do not think the loosening at this current point in time will ultimately go well as we are beginning to see in Germany.

    18th May.

    So be it.

At least some dates have been given, at least a plan of some description.

Let’s see what 18th May brings.

No they haven't. They're doing exactly the same as us. Putting forth a timetable of step by step decreases if safe to do so over time. They aren't going back to normal life any quicker than us. And let's not forget their lockdowns were much longer and stricter than ours.

Over 90% of people of deaths are in the over 65 category. And we’ve just told them to go out.

    While nothing else changes.

Absolute joke. Minor lifting of things in 2 weeks and than another 3 weeks.

So you had to interpret this 'clear' plan? It's BS, all of Europe is essentially opening back up and we can't even be provided details of their 5 phase plan.

Did he say anything about meeting friends from the 18th? I wasn't watching but my wife said she heard it

So they are making it up as they go along.

They are back to economic life 3 weeks ago. Pubs and restaurants to open by June 1st. How is that anything like Ireland?

You're not supposed to be visiting people even if they're across the road from you.
