Sorry if already asked...is there a time for the 'announcement'? Or are they just gonna slip it into the news and hope we dont notice...

Yes. The time of the announcement will be on at an “appropriate time” tomorrow.

He's a nutcase. Enjoying the celebrity he now has.

Yes like he said Coppers was finished forever. Like wtf. That is most likely not going to be the case

But my employer is deemed "essential" so I may get them to amend the cover letter so I can travel from here to my home (which is luckily on the way to the office) depending on what's announced in the coming days

Have 2 letters, one for each location.

Its time to box clever when dealing with these morons.

Seems to be no easing of restrictions in my place of work. Before any announcements are made we are opening 5
Half days a week from tomorrow on..we were one of the first goverment establishments told to close way back when...

3 Million people in Ireland under the age of 45..

14 U/45's have passed from Covid.

More of that age group die through road accidents...

Keeping millions of relatively young people locked up, close to 1 million on state assistance...

These are the people who generate the taxation to pay for the healthcare system..

Blanket lockdown still exists with no sign of release...

    Medical doctors running the country...

A Government made up of unelected T.D's, Ministers still holding office who have lost their seats....

Situation looking very severe in Ireland...

Now he says it has little effect on under 40's, what is the point of closing coppers if the age profile there is younger.

Typical Gardai- absolutely useless at anything bar hand wringing.

Can you make up something depending on your job? Ie have to collect something essential etc? I’d have gone ages ago

The main concern I have isn't getting there (after all, if I'm stopped they'll send me home, right?), it's getting back.

The reason I'm here at all is to help vulnerable family and if I go and can't get back that's a problem. But with the distance involved, likelyhood of many checkpoints on the way, and the "it depends who you get" attitudes, it's a big worry.

But yea. I can probably get the letter amended with my current address and say I have to go to the office to collect a replacement laptop for WFH (sorta true anyway)

-The 1st point is written proof of lack of credibility. The link is total cases as in 20k so that is not real time cases. Real time as in active cases.

-No its primarily old people and those near the end of life.

-What evidence exists to show the effectiveness of restrictions? Harris today once again claimed that 3500 people had been saved here and again referenced completely flawed models

2K is clearly the total who have been diagnosed as having Covid-19 todate. You bizarrely claimed that the hospital figures were not 'real time'. No one mentioned 'real time. But the fact the link below and it shows that the hospital figures are measured up to midnight on the day detailed

The age breakdown from tte same link clearly shows that Covid-19 affects the both young and old. I detailed this in the post you replied to in case you missed it . It's there in black and white. Deny it if you like. It doesnt change the facts.

    https://www.gov.ie/en/press-release/6185ef-statement-from-the-national-public-health-emergency-team-thursday-30/#hospital-statistics

I see you also refuse to believe that restrictions in China and Italy didnt help reduce the rate of infection in those countries? Really?

You do know that the pandemic is global? And it's not just Harris yeah?

Reckon best leave off with the party political bashing. Theres enough ****e to deal without that type of bs. The amount of it on this thread is more like an Ard Deis special tbh.

Well as he says, if things keep going the way they are the economic crisis will make the 2008 crash look like a blip...

10 years after the Spanish Flu there was the Great Depression, after that was World War 2....

Irish Government money will run out in August to pay for the massive social welfare bill, and the Garda overtime budget...

    Heading for very grim times...

Under 40s should be gotten back to work from next tusday. This covid poses **** all danger to them.

Watching the premier of the Alberta province in Canada outline their plan to ease restrictions (which aren't as bad as ours).

It's so refreshing to watch a public official deliver a clear and comprehensive plan.

Are people really surprised at the government's ineptitude?

Do we not remember the cervical cancer scandal? Or the new children's hospital over-spend? Or the annual overcrowded hospital wards during flu season? Or the waiting lists that see many people die before they get the treatment they need? The buses up north for the cataract surgeries?

It's all bluster and self-aggrandizing. Of course they have done less testing than they promised. Of course they are vague on when the restrictions could potentially be eased (for now).

They couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery with Oliver Reed and George Best.

Even under 50, so cocoon over 66, retired anyway, 50-65 moderate restrictions, under 50 as you were.

See how that goes rather than this BS.

Ya but they didnt dictate control of a nanny state during those scandals and some had to answer questions at the time at the very least. This is out of all control

Rightly it should be under 50’s. Plenty of healthy 40-50 year olds including covid aware business owners (myself included) that are ready to get out of the traps and start earning again. Being broke and having a hungry family is a great motivator

Where did you get the figure of 14 dead under 45?
Scandalous staying in lockdown if that’s true.

I believe people like you will be ok as you realise whats ahead, you have time to adapt.
Those who are saying lives over economy are going to get an eye opener sooner than they think, when they realise how cruel the world can be when stripped of all the supports they rely on

Lots of places are bringing their staff back at the moment. I've been informed I'm back to work next week (public-facing role). I'm well under 40, but immunocompromised, so the company have questioned my feelings on a return to work (I'm happy to go back, I need to get out of the house), are providing PPE and additional PPE just for me because of my health condition, and are supporting me in any way possible - which included giving me the option of continuing to stay at home on full pay.

Lots and lots of places are going to slowly start reopening, the likes of companies where working from home isn't viable.

I’m only hoping that people who adapt appropriately and thrive are not left seriously fcuked over with extraordinarily high levels of additional taxes to cover these layabouts. I shiver in anger at someone taking €350 a week to sit on their fat behinds slagging off people who want to open up Ireland and regain our countries positive economic position. Bunch of self entitled flea bags. Rant over

Does anyone with any sensible conviction really believe after the fcuk up they’ve made so far that they’ve made any reasonable calculation on funding and what state supports are needed going forward? I’d wager it’s vastly higher than they thought. It reminds of Brian Lenihan telling us we were fully funded as the IMF were about to take over the national finances. I expect the narrative to move majorly onto the economy in the next week (outside of the RTE group think circuit of course)

Stay at home on full pay, don't play chicken with an invisible enemy when your compromised.
I know a lot are planning to open next week it's not going to happen.
