Had a fella yesterday giving it loads about how terrible it is he can't do anything and it's crazy.....

Bat sh1t crazy he had only been homeless and got himself a 2 bed council house in a very nice area I might add.....

He was out and about and decided to go for a spin on the bus as it costs him nothing......

No wonder it's better off not working when you can get a place close to the city and have 8 bus routes by your door, pub across the road(when opens of course), shops, pharmacy, take aways.....

I had to move 2 counties away to afford to have a home.....

Likes of this numpty will ruin it for the rest of us.....

Most people I know that are breaking them are people that I would classify as wealthy and on good incomes.

Not saying you went up to your brother and licked him, but it’s a numbers game, you visited your brother, his wife visited her family, there is a teenage girl sneaking off to be with her boyfriend who lives at home with his mother who works in a nursing home....

    Everyone thinks ‘sure I’m fine’

    your so right.

my mate is proof of this...

he got a call from the HSE - was in contact with someone who now has the virus. he has to quarantine..

In general I agree with you, burg your last comment is bit unfair. There are many people finding this very lonely which brings different but equal pressures to yours.

I live on my own, separated from the wife.

I haven't seen my family (my mother, brothers or sisters) since before Paddy's day.

Haven't seen my mates since the stricter measures came in. (Except when I needed to work on my car, went to my mates shed, he had the door open, I worked outside, he worked inside, and left after an hour)

Haven't seen my new lady friend since the stricter measures came in.

Have been to the office 3 times since the stricter measures came in (mostly just to remind them I still work there).

I'm cracking up without meeting someone for a proper human interaction.

There's days I find I can't get out of bed. There's days I cry at the littlest of things. There's been more than a few times that I wanted to say "**** it, I'm breaking all the rules" to get out of this cunting house, and go visit everyone.

But I'm still behaving, because I'm a ****ing adult, and can see past my own ****ing nose.

this virus has made me realise how stupid and ignorant some people are.. pity them on one hand - mad at them on the other,..

the reason it is spreading in the community is down to sheer ignorance and stupidity..

none as queer as folk eh..

I put it down to selfishness myself. Most of them understand there are risks, but they believe the risks are worth taking. They would probably change their views of they or someone close to them caught this badly

It's as much a case of "it's not going to happen to me, and I really have little interest if it happens to people I don't know or care about"

More than a few of the people I know are in the "I don't know anyone that has got it, I don't think this is real" category.

yes a combination of the two..

but a lot of stupidity - not being able to see the bigger picture..

like so many people seem to think that if there are no cops on the road then its ok to travel etc.. like ffs... what are we - children?
more scared of a fine than getting/spreading the virus
    totally missing the point..

if people acted like how adults are suppose to act, there would be no need to police the roads etc..

    People are idiots.
Best way to live your life is to assume everyone you come into contact with is an idiot. Let them prove to you otherwise.

As many as required to get us to the end of the current restrictions

I'm not consciously but I do find that I don't check the daily numbers or news anymore, it's no longer really at the forefront of my mind and I'm pretty lax about the 2km.

I don't act the bollox like organise a party or something but if I need to go do something, I will do it.

This can't go on months/indefinitely, I suspect (although they mightn't admit it) that people will tire of it and just start relaxing themselves bit by bit as this goes on.

    What restrictions?

Talking into an echo chamber won't help that.

I’m at home with my husband and 3yo twin boys who are getting frustrated to say the least at not being able to go anywhere. We are both working full time and trying to keep the work going as well as the twins. It’s so hard at times and yet I’d pick this any time over living alone. I had my fair share of solitude in an apartment abroad some years ago and to be stuck somewhere like that alone while this is going on would be a nightmare for me. Everyone has their own struggles.

I’m in a similar position as this so can understand your frustration. It’s really hard to keep on top of everything minding the kids, keeping on top of work, keeping the house in some order and minding ourselves. We can only do our best.

They've had a much tougher lockdown there. Ours has been a walk in the park in comparison, no pun intended.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,199 ✭✭✭sporina

get this.. a "friend" of one of my bro's colleagues asked him if he could give him a copy of his work letter (proof that he needs to travel to work) so that he can get out and about.. wtf? the cheek! thankfully his colleague told his "friend" where to go! I dunno... alien to me..

after the announcement today that checkpoints step up from the morning I had a few clients cancel calls for later in the week , these clients were almost certainly planning on escaping to a holiday home on Thursday and are now making the completely un-necissary journey this evening.

The same people that are complaining about the lockdowns to begin with, are likely to be a large part of the reasons we will have more of them and longer than could be needed.
If the lockdown is followed correctly, testing gets closer to the targets, then hopefully deaths will drop and restrictions can be relaxed.
The fact that the lockdown is being ignored by so many (a lot around my area today), infections will continue, deaths will continue and the lockdown will continue.
Or.... The lockdown restrictions will be relaxed for a while, cases will start to spike again (because it was never fully under control) and there will be another lockdown, likely to be stricter.
We are mostly following Germany's lead, except for the army on the streets with the tannoy system, which is partially why it the lockdown is so effective over there.
There is no vaccine for this, so it will keep coming in waves until it is controlled, it's likely that the people ignoring the lockdown will find that out for themselves the hard way.

As mentioned, we have had nothing compared to France either

I would certainly rather stay in lockdown til the virys is gone from the public.
But the big probelm is that its the people who wont stick to the rules necessary for this to happen who are preventing it. We will be back to square one again.

Hate to break this to you but the virus is going nowhere. The restrictions were put in place so the hospital's wouldn't get inundated, but when things open up again we will get more cases again. At the moment the cases are occurring in care settings along with the majority of the deaths. Moving the elderly from hopsitals to care homes doesn't seem to have been such a great idea now.

You are 100% correct its going nowhere.
But if it was only a few cases it would be much easier to control.
The people out there spreading it are killing people, just to show how tough they are, when they could just stay at home and follow the advice. Its not 100% effective but its the best we have got.
