It appears you could count on your hands the amount of countries who are actually accounting for deaths in nursing homes and the likes. Some coming to it late but many still not at all

Yeah, the figures are underestimates, both cases and deaths, it seems. Bit of a mess really.

    Some WHO guidance clearly needed.

Whats the point of hiding it

I don’t know to be honest. I can’t work it out. But it makes comparisons of death rates as useless as the total cases figure. Everyone is using different criteria around the world

How do we know where we really are at numbers wise when the testing is so far behind?

I don't mean this in the "Evil commies must be lying" sense, but I simply refuse to believe that Russia only has 94 deaths so far. I know it's picking up lately, but that's a very unlikely death rate for a country that size.

To delay dealing with the fact that they didn't act in time to protect them. To hide the fact that the very first thing they should have done was lock down the elderly and vulnerable. And who knows how many other devious reasons.

That's true. We will most likely require a vaccination cert to travel internationally. That doesn't mean, however, that we cannot get back to 'some sort' of normality.

wont work for some newborns possibly they might have an inate immunity. like TB

I imagine they will be aware of this and make appropriate arrangements until the time comes when the vac cert isn't necessary.

Positive cases of essential workers and their families have thus far been excluded from the national total in the UK. From today on they are being included, so today's total in the UK is actually 8700 new cases.

Worldometeres will now be adding these ommitted cases from preceeding days ot the UK total.

France has now also added over 7000 new cases and 1000 deaths today.
Strange how the headlines are still mostly about how badly Spain and Italy are doing, when France, UK, Belgium are all looking a lot worse off in terms of deaths per capita

And don't forget the propaganda. If I'm told once more to "Stay at home" by a 'young' Covid survivor, I'll call around to his or her house and do what Covid failed to do. Media studies is going to be such an interesting subject when this is over.

Have they started a single briefing on time? Don't care if it's only 5 minutes late. It is not that bloody hard to pick a time and go sit at the desk for said time. Had weeks of practice.

Nearly as bad as the WHO at this stage! :)

The WHO? I'd have more confidence at this stage if the surviving members of the band of the same name were in charge. The WHO have been decidedly lacklustre throughout this crisis, to the point of incompetent at times.

I've been to gaeltachts many times throughout my life and met lots of gaelgoirs who refuse to speak english but understand it perfectly well. Nothing wrong that its their choice and they live in gaeltachts after all. But to suggest some of them dont actually know how to speak english is laughable.

Again, you don't know all the people. So you can't know. You've met many gaelgeoirs. Not all the gaelgeoirs.

I find the numbers useful as a trend indicator but do what you will with them. ICU and deaths are real and ICU levels are OK.

The UK gov site gives a good break down of the extra cases per day and worldometer site will correct the daily cases to show a more accurate count. I wish our government would do the same with the backlog, German results.

Whats the point of hiding it

They can't necessarily confirm details. I'm still not sure what we are doing, as there is a lot of confusion over whether it's just those who've confirmed via a test, or those who've had it on their death cert

The CMO apparently suggested we do include those who may not have tested positive, but I'm not convinced

I don't believe Russia's figures either. Or China's. I don't really care if that makes me sound bigoted. I don't believe them and whose fault is that?

Your w'an on the news just said some guy with flashing blue lights (and other fake emergency service gear in the car) was questioned after following an undercover drugs unit, but they didn't arrest him?

The Guardian actually had a very good article analysing why this was the case today
