I agree , I see no exit strategy to this current methodology , I wasn’t a fan of the herd immunity , but right now this current approach merely leaves large segments of the population with no exposure to the Virus , that’s not a solution

A vaccine is the only game in town, protecting the vulnerable until that arrives is the strategy.

Open, if they're within 2km of your home.
I wonder if holiday homes are excluded?

Maybe a better definition was required.

    Such as 'principle permanent residence'.

As long as they self isolate, yes.

If it’s only for 2 weeks thats fine but they didn’t guarantee that

We all know it won't be two weeks. They can't be telling us the whole story it's about preventing panic.

No it’s not , because the Gardaí now have specific powers and a well defined set of limits. ( fir example husband and wife in car , Nono, where do you live , there a supermarket over there , good evening can yiu show me proof of your address , you are 8km away from home , two or more people together and clearly am adult and kids , nono , etc)
These new rules are clearly designed to be enforced and enforceable

I hope you are right but I don't think it will be enforced properly

I don’t believe that is the case , you get it delivered , this is essentially a “ shelter in place “ order

It is pointless explain that to these people. These mouth-breathers can't see beyond "planes in sky still flying" and assume that they're packed full of infected foreign tourists. Just not true at this point. 99% of passengers on these flights are returning Irish and I would not want to leave them stranded at this time. And as you said, these flights are mostly empty.

    I love Dr. Motherway

Reminds me of the old 'Take no schitt' type matron .
Her line 'You don't want to see me'( i.e. in ICU) had great impact.

This comic fantasy is the story of some elderly folks who encounter aliens when they find a swimming pool filled with large pods that possess the power to restore youth and vitality. Now they have to choose between eternal life or the acceptance of their own impending death.

If the holiday home is more than 2KM from where you are now then it is.

Jeepers , it’s not confusing , it’s a shelter in place order , stay at home, wherever or whatever that that is

And if there is, the area might only have a couple of bus runs in a day.

How would Irish hospitalised Covid-19 cases be treated? Would it be oxygen therapy? Using antiviral drugs? I read about some countries used drugs for malaria to treat it. Does Ireland have any laws that would prohibit doctors from doing this? Like using malaria drugs for Covid-19.

I'm just wondering that's all. Like does Ireland have enough medicines like anti virals medicines?
If doctors start using other drugs for treating Covid-19 - would there be any liability if it goes wrong - I'm thinking about the possibility of compo claims from people later on down the line.

    Is it a Cork saying?

    I get it.

It is not particularly a Cork saying. I use it all the time. Just unfortunate to use it in the context of a discussion about a virus.

Who said no one is supposed to be out?

The public transport is restricted to essential workers only.

    My sister said it.

The whole family has a tendency to exaggerate and be melodramatic so I’m never sure what is real and what is made up in their heads.

If you live in a rural area yiu can travel as far as is neccessary to buy food and medicine, in a car, or taxi , or have it delivered

What’s your issues, I was responding to someone who suggested they could take a bus to buy food ( which suggests they live near a bus route ! )
