Ireland ultimately has been compared to Scotland, Wales, Norway, Finland etc.

Scotland has 25 deaths, so it was only a matter of time the figures would look similar to them.

    Not to some obviously

In a previous lifetime I worked for a huge international firm. The day after the Twin Towers fell, the bosses came out of their offices, told us all to get a grip and to get in touch with our contacts in NY to see would the deals/contracts/etc be closed on time. "The show must go on, your clients would be very sorry to lose all that money". I felt sick to my soul. I left shortly thereafter.

    Is this an interrogation?

And if they're positive but asymptomatic, what can you do?

But they might not of shown symptoms for over a week.

After Trumps sneaky German vaccine stunt, the States are going to buy up all the global PPE they can aren't they? :-(

Does seem every country for itself.

    Only a 14% increase
The number of confirmed new cases does not mean a great deal. It's from tests done a few days ago, but more importantly limited by the number of tests undertaken

It's likely that actual numbers infected are a significant multiple of the current 1,819 confirmed cases. Fortunately many of those "extras" will be showing little in the way of symptoms, but clearly can still spread the virus. Hence the incessant "social distancing" messages. It is incredibly important to slow the rise of seriously affected individuals

    Apologies.

It’s really not that big though.
If we keep it under 20% we’re on course for our curve to plateau in the medium term

I know. How accurate a representation it is of the spread of Covid is another thing. Hope you're right.

I'don't make a particularly big deal about it but while choosing different times is one thing -announcing times and not sticking to them is another .
I mean -how hard can it be .?

You need to get a grip and realise that these people have more to do than pander to you.

Nursing home had ban non essential visitors since beginning of march

Could just as easily be from asymptomatic staff.

For the first time since this began I'm starting to worry.
Some EU (I missed the name) body is concerned about our emergency healthcare facilities.
Hse saying surge hasn't even started.
10 deaths. More in a day than so far. Highest day of infection numbers .

    People can't get complacent.

The journalists are running out of questions to ask.

They should be asking why didn't the HSE do more when they were letting all the skiers coming back into the country when it was starting to run rampant in Italy

You have no idea how many people have seemingly died here in China. Nobody really knows the true figures, but forget the official numbers of dead/infected, I would say multiply by 15-25 to get anywhere near reality. I personally know of 5 people who died, and I don't live in Wuhan or have any connection to it, so the official numbers are not even worth looking at.

Among your Chinese peers / co-workers / friends, do they acknowledge the numbers of dead are much higher than the official figures or do they keep quiet?

And with a median age of 79 among those deaths, we know then that those deaths are, for the vast majority. In an at risk group

Here are the latest Italian stats. Deaths at 6,801. The thing to note is that the percentages of each age group that have died have not shifted significantly. 95% of all deaths are 60+. Even if you move the bar to 70+ its still 84% of all deaths. Still no deaths under 30 (so far) have been recorded.

Jesus. Timmy Mallet's gotten dark since I was a kid.

No. No one person's life is. Selfish western way of thinking. If everyone's child is more important than the next, where do we end up?

No point in doing that. If you show symptoms just isolate, it's not that hard.

Keep the tests for the ones that need it. No point in testing me for example, save that for someone that's more vulnerable

Blame the general public for not isolating. Staff have to go in.

How many healthcare got infected from travel, was any Italian or other nationalities back working in Irish care homes, work experience? I was sure visiting to care homes and hospitals was stopped from March beginning

We really should have stopped travel in and to China and Italy from January, too late now

    RIP :(

No wonder the news earlier today was talking about mortuaries

The EU is finally trying to co-ordinate an approach across the Union, but it's going to be difficult for people in Italy and Spain to think too deeply about those in places like France and the Netherlands, who are arguably "next in line" for significantly escalating issues

There's already huge social pressure and official guidance to stay home as much as possible. Whether you want to call it a "campaign" or not.

But normal interaction between human beings can't be stigmatised indefinitely.

It seems you're looking for an easy answer. Spoiler: there isn't one.
