Did anyone see Neil Ferguson I think of UCL and one of the people who was worried about this from very early on speaking to a parliament committee in London earlier? He's had corona himself and think he said the peak could be over by Easter (could) and that the NHS should be able to muddle through nationally if not always locally (not his exact words). As someone who outlined the seriously of this when some accused those doing so of scaremongering, I hope to god he's right. Yes it's bad, yes it will get worse, but we all need some light at the end of the tunnel. Anything.

Well if people doing the "corona challenge" get killed it wouldn't be much loss. Feral thicks like that are of no use to society and only cause problems.

again with all of this i'm just trying to show people the 14 day delay in an change in how we deal with this
if you wait till we are overloaded it's too late
everyone has to make up there own mind but at least look at the maths

    3 weeks no change 42K
    3 weeks slow change 23K
    3 weeks big drop 9K

    1 month no change 241K
    1 month slow change 56K
    1 month big drop 11K

you need to decide what you do today to affect 3 weeks from now

Probably one of the more important posts on this thread.

How many ICU places do we currently have?

I'm not questioning the current strategy, I don't have a better plan. I'm questioning your blithe assumption that it's going to turn things around within a short space of time.

Once more. I didn't say or even suggest that.

The virus is with us for the long term. That's a given. The economy will not be shut down, nor will most people be stopped from working after a month or so. The lockdown or distancing is there to give the government time to prepare an environment for society to work in.. and for people to adjust to that new environment... while the virus remains with us.

Stop questioning me with things that I didn't say. It's the second time you've done so, and it's rather ignorant.

This is going to lead to serious assaults and possibly people being killed. People are under huge stress both trying to steer clear of the virus and financially. Somebody is going to lose it if somebody coughs in their face.

I wonder how coughing on someone purposely would go down with the Gardai, is it a form of assault?

So you are suggesting we just test at random rather than identify suspect cases?

What, exactly, is random about a patient being triaged by their GP and put forward for a test?? They aren't picking fcuking people off the street.

It's possible to come in well under 6000 as well : any daily drop in increases could decrease the overall figure significantly by next Tuesday.

No test for me apparently because of new HSE guidelines i.e I don't have a temp.
But I have pain everytime I breathe, sore throat, headache, aches and pains all over. Plus I have had pneunonia before.

But I have been told the whole household has to self isolate for 2 weeks. Given sick cert for 2 weeks. Cal an ambulance if I get any worse.

Oh and they made sure to take my card details as soon as possible after anyway.

Why do you need a test?

Certainly should be in these times and any response to it classified as self-defence.

I'd say more likely Section 6 public order offence. Threatening, abusive, insulting behaviour.

Anyone indulging in this disgusting practice needs their jaw broken at the least, ****ing scum. Couldn’t care less what age you are or if your filthy girlfriend is with you, do this around me and I’ll kill the both of ye where ye stand.

Was just about to post this. So infuriating. Anyone that does this needs a state sanctioned hiding to nowhere.

I look forward to someone coughing on the wrong person and getting a good kicking for it, and the guards announcing that they will not consider such retaliation to constitute an assault.

Unlikely I know, but one can hope...

I’d argue it’s attempted murder at this time - attempting to pass a virus that might result in death. The people it doing it should be dealt with as such, first on the spot and then by the courts.

I don’t have any faith in China’s published death rate.
Millions must be dead in China!

A large drop in Chinese mobile accounts ~21M between Nov. '19 and Feb. '20 compared to growth in numbers for 2018-19.
    Reported by China MIIT.

    Evidence of Chinese cover-up?

Maybe, but it coincides with new MIIT regulations allowing users to transfer provider and bring their numbers with them.

All information needs to be evaluated in context, and not just on basis of MSNBC type headlines.

That's a combination of A. People being good but sadly B. Not testing.

ICU and hospital admissions are the only real reliable figures from now on.

I see that Prince Charles is self isolating with Covid-19 while Prince Andrew is self isolating with Lucy-15.

If they cough on someone deliberately and that person ends up dead, is it manslaughter or murder?

Surely though, isnt one of the main reasons why the figure is low is because nearly 40,000 people are still waiting to get tested.

Just playing Devils advocate. We address this and I think we will see a more accurate figure.

I think the next 5-10 days are huge and will indicate exactly where we are going with this virus but early indications are positive.

Crazy stuff & hope the extreme end of any law breaking is applied....

    https://www.rte.ie/news/2020/0325/1126291-coughing-investigation/

Would like to see anyone caught, being prosecuted, having criminal record & never being able to work in the public sector or get a passport for at least 10 years.

Should be zero tolerance being applied.... might soften their coughing!

What kind of stupidity have we in our country....

Fùck the good kicking. Let the dopes do it to Padraig Nally or a few of the drug gangs. Permanently deal with the scrotes.

We haven't tested enough people to know where we are at, very stupid to come out with guesstimates. It doesn't matter if you are a doctor, politician or mathematician, there is too small of a sample size at this point to make any sort of informed prediction.

How many people have been tested to this point? Have we reached 20k yet?

I posted last week that my elderly mother was deliberately coughed on by a young girl in the local park. It seemed to be for the laugh in front of a big group of friends. Parents should be arrested. Total scummy parenting failure.

    https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=112858904&postcount=4469

The deaths figures are so worrying. It took about 3 months to reach 10000 dead (19th March) and it looks like we will reach 20000 in under the week today.
