7k odd army and 1k reserves, plus 14,000 guards isn't enough.

That's not the way to go, people need to be reassured with leadership, not paniced by seen the army patrol the streets

I drive for a living and have to say there is fcuk all traffic around Dublin and most of the big towns I drive through.Seems to me that the social distancing is working a treat.
Got 3 runs in today instead of the normal 2 because of the lack of traffic.
Still a few people roaming around walking but by god the M50 is so much clearer at rush hour than a month ago.
From my own perspective it looks like the majority of people are doing whats recommended and its only a minority who are acting the cnut queing at chippers and the like.

I get what you're saying, but most of us are already locked up down here as much as possible...and the thing is if a few of those people had it and passed it on we could have a devastating cluster of cases/deaths in our area due to those eegits coming down, something that could completely devastate the area for years to come!

It's a small minority but when you're in the middle of one of those areas and see the locals all trying so hard and looking after the vulnerable people then next thing the place is absolutely full up with people from Dublin i'm sure you would feel the same.
Nothing against people from Dublin lol, but they have the highest infection rate in the country and we had less than 5 positive cases in our county at the last check so it's obviously worrying!

It’s about two and a half hours since a car passed the neighboring road here. The silence is deafening, it’s weird as fûck. I’m in Glasnevin near a main road and in an estate with about 230 houses. Pubs, shops, supermarkets, a garage, post office, gym all nearby but today and this evening especially silent, weird as fûck.

The problem lies in the fact that most of them, while on regular work placement, work in nursing homes etc to earn money, this option is now not available to them regardless of what in the hospital their duties will be.

They also are being asked to leave private accommodation because their landlords and flatmates don't want the risk of them bringing the virus home.

You do realise that we're testing more than some other countries.

There may be a backlog but tests still being done every day.2000 at present, soon to be 4000 and then 15000.

How do you know social distancing is not working as the incubation has not passed for that.

That's a week to 10 days away and then we can see if it's working.

Too many "experts" on here who just don't get it and screaming for a lockdown and will then expect to see an instant decline in numbers.

Wait till next week when UK is a week in to lockdown and their case numbers and deaths go up.

People also forget that a vast majority of people are in a self imposed lock down.

Funnily enough I run down the Finglas Rd almost to the cemetery fairly regular into Dublin Ind Est,that spin down is normally a nightmare but ive been sailing on down lately no traffic.
I can only judge what I see but seems like the general public are taking this serious,yeh a few morons but the lack of traffic is a big pointer that as a country we are all taking it serious.
