So is it’s most people’s opinion that Ireland has done a good job so far in its handling of this , have we implemented the correct response at the right time and that we shouldn’t see the devastation that has hit Italy once the general public play ball in helping to stop the spread.

Too early to tell. Wait another month or so and then we should have a better idea.

Social Protection Minister stated 20,000 applications from workers on Friday received and payments being processed between 24 and 48 hrs.

Fair play to those in Social Protection

Surely what the EU commission head is now saying will cover this??

It is up to member states in the end but they are likely to follow this new recommendation.

I believe we're absolutely riddled with it already. The measures we take today (or tomorrow) will have no impact on the curve for at least 7-14 days. We're going to be dropping like flies by the end of the week.
    .

You're absolutely right that current measures won't bear fruit for weeks, but there's no evidence that current identifications are worse than the global trend - on that basis assume infections are 30x the identified rate and you won't be far off, so getting on for 4,000 infected people now, or 0.1% of the population. But it will double and double and double again over the next few weeks. Only social distancing will keep this number as low as possible.

Might sound a bit gross but if you have to use paper that won't flush you can put it in a bin beside the loo and dispose in black bin or compost.

genuinely, has anyone, or is anyone having any difficult whatsoever getting toilet roll? The shops are full of it....

Would love to see the detail of the EU 30 day travel ban....just seen the tweet.
It looks like you can still travel within EU but not travel into EU if your are outside of it.

So... The priority shopping times are only for the elderly and not other risk groups? I have a spouse who is risk group (asthma) but better not send him to the shops as he'd scare everyone with his asthmatic coughing (which is not corona as he coughs all the time anyway because of asthma but who really knows without testing).

I was not going to go to get anything today but I just tasted the tap water I boiled yesterday and put in the fridge. The aftertaste makes me want to gargle with vodka.

Watch Arlene and Boris turn this into an ironic twist regarding the border before they then cop on.

What does this mean for Northern Ireland?

    Chomsky(2017) on the Republican party

"Has there ever been an organisation in human history that is dedicated, with such commitment, to the destruction of organised human life on Earth?"

The proposal is all travel. Not just flights.

It will be voted on by EU leaders tomorrow.

    Source? :)

    Seriously though, are you sure?

All new/recent cases are being reported in Hubai province, and, AFAIK, that province is on lock down?

IMO With reference to Hubai province, if they are easing up on the lockdown then it's just as likely that it's uninfected people now coming into contact with the virus source again after being locked up for how ever long. Which would mean they would need to gradually expose the general populous to the virus at a controlled rate.
