    Seriously though, are you sure?

All new/recent cases are being reported in Hubai province, and, AFAIK, that province is on lock down?

IMO With reference to Hubai province, if they are easing up on the lockdown then it's just as likely that it's uninfected people now coming into contact with the virus source again after being locked up for how ever long. Which would mean they would need to gradually expose the general populous to the virus at a controlled rate.

Just heard Ursula von der Leyen speaking - she also said 'within the EU'. Hopefully some clarity from our government soon. Germany is advising against all non-essential travel abroad (whether within or outside EU).

They release it at the end of every day in there figures in saying that I can't confirm about today's .
I am not surprised that they would react like that shutting down a provance look what they gone through already
In saying that I can find only one article to confirm a new lock down and it's not confirmed story

    Interesting read here...

    Translated:

More than 20 patients are treated today in all of Liguria with Tocilizumab, an experimental drug used according to the therapeutic protocol prepared by the Policlinico San Martino Hospital for the treatment of patients with Covid-19 pneumonia, with the go-ahead from the Liguria Region and Alisa's infectious disease task force. The protocol involves the use of Tocilizumab, an anti inteleukin 6 monoclonal antibody normally used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Tocilizumab is used off-label, that is, out of the approved indications, taking advantage of the experience of the cytokine release syndrome with the use of new therapies with CarT cells. "This protocol - reads a note - was approved by the strategic direction of the Polyclinic and shared among the infectious disease specialists of the task force of the Ligurian health authority. Regione therefore accepted the proposal of donation from the Roche company which ensured a supply of the drug, the supply of which is managed by the Policlinico pharmacy. The first patients have been treated since Wednesday and to date more than 20 patients have been treated with Tacilizumab throughout Liguria with initial encouraging clinical results. The director of the Infectious Diseases Clinic of the Policlinico, Matteo Bassetti in collaboration with the hospital pharmacy, will collect the clinical data to evaluate the results in order to further therapeutic developments ".

The travel ban is about the Schengen area, no? The UK was never in Schengen, but neither were we

Political views aside (and no i dont support FG), i think our caretaker govt have done a great job under these circumstances, Especially Simon Coveney, Great work being done by CMO and his aides too compared to our neighbours across the irish sea

Spare a thought for these vulnerable people. Herd immunity translates to ethnic cleansing in this case.

No, it's an EU commission proposal for all member states.

genuinely, has anyone, or is anyone having any difficult whatsoever getting toilet roll? The shops are full of it....

I'd say the true story is that some may be having difficulty getting it but they are not actually out of it.

    Stockpiling.

I don't think there is any new lockdown, AFAIK, they are still on lockdown, until mid-April.

Actually does that announcement mean that you can’t come into the EU(from the outside) but can travel within it....Sky lady said that EU lady said UK still considered part of EU so it’s people can still travel(within the “rest”of the EU)???

The proposal is all travel. Not just flights.

It will be voted on by EU leaders tomorrow.

So they gonna stop a taxi at the border? Come on. You can pass laws or make recommendations but with a land border you're fighting a losing or at least not winning battle - see 1969-1995

Stuff like toilett paper will be gone amongst the first as noone will be interesting in shipping air - loo rolls are bulky and not a priority to get to the people anyway.
    4. There are people for whom stocking up on toilet paper makes sense (my parents want to avoid public transport during the crisis so are going to walk to and from a local shop {instead of getting a bus to a bigger shop}. Toilet paper is very annoying to carry when doing a large shop).
    5. People are idiots.
    6. If my shop is out of toilet paper I will find a shop selling toilet paper and stockpile because I don't want hassle of looking for it.

    Why doesn't this happen everywhere?
I mean, people are people. Different languages and cultures, same ancestral fears.

Some good figures for the UK, a rise of 171, Boris will be getting a lot praise in the media if he keeps this up.

It can't exclude Ireland because then we would be banning travel from the continent!

We'd be in a new travel zone with the UK essentially.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,896 ✭✭✭✭Spook_ie

Ireland needs to make a choice here.

If the UK continue to under report their figures and act in the feckless way they are what good is it us taking the actions we are taking?

Their under reporting is based on the same thing as our under reporting.

The only ones getting reported are the ones that are tested, no test=no report, every country in the world that has at least one confirmed case will not be reporting the true figure.

Antibiotics would be useless in treating the cause of Covid-19,being a virus
