    Seriously? Ffs!.
Could I just do on travel insurance?

Insurance is only going to tell you to go to the airline first to see if you can cancel
Have you paid the hotel in full?

There is an avoid non essential travel to 4 regions in the north now (since this evening)....so essentially the same as China.

Tbh I wouldn't have been going not when I saw the numbers climbing at such a crazy rate. I have had pneumonia in the past and tbh wasn't keen on getting it again. I think the avoid non essential travel would also totally invalidate my insurance anyway if I went!

Hopefully the insurance pays up! The hotel especially was a serious price.

Unfortunately I think the No Travel applies to specific areas of Northern Italy, not necessarily the airports that might service them.

I wish you well. Terrible situation to be in with your health history too. But you make the decision for yourself really as you seem to have done.

RTE doing their best to scare the nation again.

    A shambles.

Yeah, with their information and their facts and their medical experts. Bastards.

Heard a dietician on the radio earlier talking about the importance of having a strong immune system taking zinc and things like fish oil. Also said stress and panic depletes the immune system. Good advice I thought about proper nutrition and keeping stress levels down.

Do you really think the schoolchild would not have arrived in ireland if flights from Italy were stopped?

What about all the Chinese people that have arrived in iIreland after coming from China, via Amsterdm?

All the people that arrived from Iran via Frankfurt?

Did I mention Google anywhere? Just speculating as there is no other information, so filling a vacuum, as you do. Add in the WFH test environment. Doesn't take a genius.

But it could be someone from Dalkey or Ringsend or Greystones, or Rathnew, or Wexford or Kildare. Take your pick.

The information is so precise isn't it?

I don’t disagree with the HSE approach to information. Their priority is patient confidentiality, not appeasing the general populations nosiness or their appetite for information that is not relevant to them and none of their business.

I happen to know who the first case is. The way I behave wrt this epidemic hasn’t changed one bit by knowing that information. If it needed to change, the HSE would have been in touch. Just try to get on with it and not panic!

The second confirmed infected man in NYC had not recently travelled or been in contact with an infected, thought to be a source of community transmission

RTE only showing 10 minutes of the virus on the news, it's a disgrace Joe.

RTE having more shows on the virus, it's a disgrace Joe.

What I'm a little surprised hasn't happened is the airlines cancelling the flights out/to Northern Italy on the grounds of the safety of their crew (and certainly that no union has pushed for this).

Eh, we all know where the first case is.

    The second, not so much.

But once the information came out about Case 1, hysteria died down pretty quickly really. That's all I'm saying.

Exactly, we don't need to know who individuals are or precise locations. It shouldn't have any affect on our behavior.

Economy over the health of its citizens. Dr Leo Varadkar is a person seriously lacking in empathy.

Decisions based on international and European guidance and individual operator risk assessments. It’s a very dynamic situation though.

You don’t know where. You don’t know who. Me having that information doesn’t change anything, and knowing who case 2 is won’t change anything either. If I need to know, the HSE will be in touch.

All things considered, I think the Irish authorities are doing a really good job in managing this.
It's a fact based response to an evolving public health risk.
It looks inevitable that there will be more cases here, maybe many more, over the next few months and all the current efforts are directed at slowing the spread of the virus to a manageable rate.

I think were very fortunate to have only two confirmed cases at this stage, and I'm sure luck as played a part in that, but it's an awful lot worse in other countries right now.

Or they are doing a great job at not testing and thereby keeping virus numbers down. What happens when people become ill or worse and the real picture imetges? Or maybe we are just lucky?
