What time is sunset at the summer solstice in Ireland? After 11:30 pm anyway.
As someone who spends a considerable amount of time in the summer hiking and cycling believe me we get plenty of UV light. Even check on mothern solar panels, they work great in Ireland during the summer.

It's the reason the flu is seasonal in Ireland just like every other country.
That is true in Iran i have just checked ...the sun sets at 8.30 pm in middle of summer whereas we have daylight after 10.

The sun rises at 6 in summer in Iran ours at five.

Seeing as how William and Catherine have just arrived on their royal visit to Ireland can we presume they have been/are being thoroughly tested for the virus?

Liz is now wearing gloves: https://news.sky.com/story/queens-long-gloves-at-palace-ceremony-sensible-precaution-against-coronavirus-11948752

We invest **** loads, there's no issue with a lack of money going into it.

Yup it's just intense UV light vs lower but more sustained UV light
Both will kill a virus at a much faster rate during the summer.

I watched the British news at 6 o'clock tonight, and jez they have gone full apocalypse mode.

Talk about ramping up the fear.

Every line in the report was 'if' this happened or 'if' that happened.
Real OTT stuff about all ops being cancelled, retired doctors being asked to come back to work, bringing in the army etc etc.

I'm finding it hard to keep up. Is it fair to say that the new cases and deaths are reducing? Looking at that graph of the optimistic scenario vs the real cases seems to be showing a significant drop off which is great news.

Also good news about Patrick's day. Hard to beat bringing the kids in to see the parade followed by a few pints!

This is very important to pintmen

Now sorry, I am a sceptic, but they may be deciding how to let the Paddy's Day Festival go ahead, while trying to tell the rest of us that there is another case or two.

Hopefully there isn't, and the Festival can go ahead. Optimistic hat on, but not sure we are being told everything.

Anyway, if Cheltenham goes ahead, there is no option but to let Paddy's Day go ahead too. A huge number of Irish travel over for that, and BACK!

As someone said in an earlier post Saudi Arabia would probably be a good benchmark.

    Thats very true in China.

Also In Iran ..women cover their entire bodies from the sun.

I know from talking to women who wear them that they protect women from sunburn etc ....so i assume they block out uv light.

Its kind of evident that there are less diseases in this part of the world in summer. And in other parts of the world most summer illnesses are vector borne from arthropods, Mosquitoes etc.

    That's just double talk
The Valencian Community has confirmed tonight that last February 13 a man died in this region that had coronavirus. The cause of death was pneumonia of unknown origin, as announced by the Valencian Health Minister, Ana Barceló. This is the first deceased who had the new virus in Spain, which records 151 cases of the disease, according to the latest balance of this Tuesday from the Ministry of Health

Not necessarily. The dress there is not exposing hands faces etc to the light partic for women. Surfaces yes though.

I know an out of the way pub up in the hills. Not many outsiders and locals that don't travel far. There's a turf fire in the corner all year round. Good place to go if this gets out of hand plenty of hot whiskeys followed by creamy pints!

3.1% death rate in Italy so far from those numbers.

    https://www.sozialministerium.at/Informationen-zum-Coronavirus/Neuartiges-Coronavirus-(2019-nCov).html

Austria now have 24 total cases.

Italy population is quite old... I wonder if these people had underlying conditions. This is why it is so important this isn’t shrugged off as just a cold. There is no need for panic but I don’t think measures are being implemented to stop it spreading in Ireland.

Well it won't really affect you if you are not in the crowds will it?

But I take your point. Seems to me that cows were far more important during F+M in 2001.

But it's the economy stupid. Can't cull people I suppose.

I think they will likely postpone it, but the decision needs to be made closer to the event as the situation changes daily.

I guess that’s what they thought at the time of death as there weren’t any coronavirus in Europe at the time, were they?

What was the situation like on the 13th? God, it seems a lifetime ago.
