That isolation ward in the mater has been there for nearly a month now- it’s not a new development

Not sure of the authenticity of this, but looks like a school in Glasnevin has been closed.

Not sure if this was posted already. Italy has 700 new cases today. Was 1,000 yesterday, now 1700.

Been lost in a lot of the stuff about the HSE school announcement farce but that's the real headline grabber for me.

    Those numbers are absolutely frightening

They are undermining the public health service over something they had no control over ie school skiing trips to Italy.

This wasn’t a school skiing trip it was a family holiday. The HSE said to self isolate ONLY if you developed symptoms and now we have a confirmed case who has been in contact with god knows how many since.

What about the rest of the family and those they’ve been in contact with?

Let's be fair if it's in a Dublin school where there's hundred maybe a thousand kids it's going to spread like wild fire,
That school doesn't serve just one community there's people from all over that part of Dublin
I'd imagine one of the places the HSE was hoping it wouldn't turn up
Next few weeks will be interesting to possibly scary

Im not apologizing for naming my daughters school. I will continue to share any further correspondence we get.

The HSE are making a complete pigs ear of this, if anything happens to my daughter ill do time

SCOIL CATHRIONA, ST MOBHI ROAD, DUBLIN.

How are they making a pigs ear of it?
Why did you decide to name the school? What difference does it make to your daughter?

Runways if you are reading this you should have drank the tk red lemonade like I advised you and you would be fine.
It’s the go to cure all.

Tanora is good too. Works best if you are a Corkonian

So he's in the mater? The way he's describing doesn't actually sound like a proper isolation. Also, if they were to isolate you like that wearing Hazmats and what have you. They wouldn't let him Out for a bleedin' smoke.

I don’t think they could forcibly keep a grown adult in the quarantine area if they really wanted to leave. But then Who said he left to smoke? I’ve been in hospitals before and the toilet blocks reeked of cigarettes that patients were obviously smoking in there on the sly. We’re such a bunch of cynics and in this scenario of coronavirus that’s gonna work to our detriment.

He works for HSE and unfortunately seems to take a lot of the criticism personally.

I'm not taking it personally. Just it's frustrating to see all the false information posted by certain posters. Realistically, this is becoming more serious, but we all need to realise, it's not the end of the world. People blocking up A+E with sniffles causes delays in treatment. If you are suffering from flu symptoms but not poleaxed by them, it's best to self isolate.

They have been effectively ignoring it until a week ago, i was in hospitals and the signs everywhere still only warn anyone whose been in china in the last 2 weeks.

Also flights from effected areas should have been stopped weeks ago

I assume the issue for the HSE is that giving out information risks putting off people self-identifying if they think they may be infected, particularly if their symptoms are only mild, or if they may be unsure. Lots will not want to draw arrention to themselves or their families/children - with good reason given the over-reaction by some. People being reluctant to come forward is a big risk to containment.

They may seem to be over-doing it in relation to the school - and they obviously know that the information would be in the public domain almost immediately. But I assume they want to get out the message loud and clear - we will not disclose if you speak to us.

Clearly your not a medical expert anyway... flat 7up is prescribed to treat such a case.

Part of dealing with all this is venting. Lots of reassurance for her with facts. Young people are the least likely group to suffer fatalities.

Sorry folks, just getting really high on emotions here. 14 year old daughters in tears here thinking shes going to die. I know shes not but still.

She is in the second lowest risk category after under nine.

Best thing for her to do is self isolate

Well I’m not telling you my source but you have claimed all along to be a medical professional so if you have any dealings with the mater then you’ll know what I’m saying is correct
