Dee will be off the hook for a while it seems.

The Grainne pining for the little Indian fella looks like it will lead to an adoption story?
I thought the funniest bit in the episode was the face David made when Grainne mentioned that she had Curry prepared.

The fella that acts as Nathan seems to be like a younger slightly edgier version of David. There seems to be a 'Father Dougal' head on him too.

Oh I didn't think about an adoption story. I was thinking that maybe she'd leave and go back to India again.

I thought Nathan would be a bit evil and be in with Andy but he really seems to have a soft spot for Bobbi-Lee.

I was thinking it wouldn't be the first time they had a foreigner in RnR. In season 1 they had Damita Dye - 'B movie star' from Peru. And Freddie Victor - the dodgy director from England. Both did not speak a word of Gaeilge.

They are getting some really strong performances from Seán Mistéal (David). The last few episodes have been well done. I particularly loved the bit in the last episode where Aine got the tenner from Malachai and would not be talked down to the the fiver.

I am paying close attention to the writers of the episodes now - the last one was written by Peadar Cox, and it was solid. Was wondering if any episodes I find flakey were down to the writers?
Or was it just because they were trying to shoe horn a story into it? Like the Katy one where they had nowhere else to go with it?

I assume they are setting the Grainne story-line up for a robbery in India? Because a lot of emphasis was put on the bank card and David mentioned previously that 'it was not a place for woman on her own'.

On the writers thing, there's one writer I'm sure of who loves the term "kaibosh". There are certain episodes where the term will be used a few times and then not heard again for ages.

Peadar Cox is an excellent actor and used to be in Ros na Rún as Daniel.

It really annoys me how every now and again they seem to be going to get somewhere with the Katy/Dee storyline and then they don't mention it again for weeks. It could well be next year's season finale too at this rate!

It will all be sussed out on 40th year anniversary special, where a 16 year old Jay discovers the truth after his drunken auntie Dee has a nervous breakdown at his birthday party.
Will the health system have improved enough in RnR by then?

I saw there from the Christmas preview that Katy will be out of hospital and waging war on Dee, she's a great actress so I'm really looking forward to her scenes.
Interesting as well that Mack opened up so much to Mo about Katy, I wonder will Mo figure out that Jay is Mack's son?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,071 ✭✭✭julyjane

Mo is cute enough, she'll keep her eyes and ears open and her mouth shut and see right through Dee. I can't wait

  • Registered Users Posts: 441 ✭✭Areas

Yeah, I'm a fan of Mo these days. I have to rewatch the last 2 episodes because I can't remember what happened with the dress, I know Máire burnt it, but then I'm not sure. People seem to love to call me when it's on!

Yep, it was very well done they tied together various strands of stories well.

Well written and I had assumed they would go down the route of if there is anyone here who thinks this marriage will should not go ahead etc.

But they didn't, and the whole story actually seemed very plausible.

David's blessing ceremony leaves things open now so there is plenty can that go wrong yet.

I think it is because he knows he made a balls of it, and has to tell Mo that she did not actually get married.
It was basically his fault because he did not check with the wedding organiser about the priest.

I thought the episode was good but not the Katy storyline it does not make one iota of sense. I have lost complete interest in it at this stage.
Both sisters have decided to do a complete 180 and go from passive to aggressive. Basically swapping roles.
The bit where Katy says to Dee the war is not over and grabs her by the arm - Dee did nothing in response. Before she would have made up a spiel about the terrible things Katy said etc.
Then you have Mack who still decides to do nothing with the password and email for the DNA site.

In contrast the storyline with Mo/Peatsai/Colm/David/Tadgh is gas altogether. Not only is it well acted, it has a bit of sense to it at least.

Yeah I think you are right. Plus I thought Katy told Mack about the DNA results because Katy was explaining why Dee did all those things to her. I remember Mack asking "Why would Dee do that?" "You are Jay's father - Mack" etc etc.
Plus he was going to look up the results but did not and was looking at Dee funny for a few episodes.

It seems like the writers have been spinning this story for so long they have forgotten what they wrote, and tripped themselves up big style.

I was thinking about the Grainne disappearance no phone calls money gone very quickly. David tried to contact her no reply.
Iniatially when she was going to India - David made a point of mentioning that India is no place for a woman on her own.
Also a point was made of David giving Grainne his bank card with thier savings just in case.

I was wondering since she is still gone with no word - if she was robbed in India?
That is my theory on it.

I don't know but maybe their relationship isn't that great, sure Malachi bought the building where the chemist is and never told him until the deal was done.

Yeah good point Rory seemed a bit snide in his comments to Malachi - implying that there had to be something in it for him to do that.

I remember there was a bit where the RnR writers were discussing Peadar's character and they were able to give Joe any lines - then he would make his own of it no matter what.

It was good alright it tricked me as well.
I never heard of that before in any soap.
This Emma Keane character seems like Catriona on steroids confidence, style and sneakiness. She is definitely a few notches further out, and she could also give Catriona her coat when she is finished with it?

It seems this open relationship thing between Rory and Emma is ongoing for a while. As Emma said of Michelle that she is younger the the usual ones he goes for.

I enjoyed that last episode was tidy and well acted -

Set up a number of plots Nathan/Eanna needing Bobbi Lee's blood type or whatever

Bicep Brian - getting itchy feet with the aging Berni

Catriona - getting in deeper before the big fall

Dee -realising that Katy has all the support of those around herr - except Padraig and his mates. I expect to see Dee giving Padraig legal help soon (might finally reach the end of the Katy/Mack story as Mack inclined to side with Katy

Oh and I saw a great promo for RnR Tadhg doing the weather, despite the annoyances of all the 'Donegal's'

Don't eat the yellow snow! :D

I would love to see the Katy/Dee storyline have a good ending. I don't like the way they have just kind of left it unconcluded with the 2 sisters agreeing neither will say anything to Mack/Tadhg. I'd like to see Dee get her comeuppance and Mack realise what an evil cow she is.

I like the Nathan story. Poor Bobbi Lee has no idea. I hope he tells her soon.

I wonder what will happen with Berni and Briain....

That flipping Katy v Dee storyline - apparently it was supposed to be genius twist for Katy to praise Padraig and give in? But to me it meant another excuse to kill time and drag out (the by now) idiotic storyline between Dee/Kathy/Mack as other ancillary lines are shut.

That really annoyed me, as I know full well, that not only might they not kill the storyline this season. They might drag it out for the one after that.

The Nathan Bobbi Lee storyline is a nice one written well, I hope they don't drag that one out as well and bansjax any sense in it.
