I wonder if the HSE are going to make extra hospital beds available or at least have some contingency plan ready should this arrive on our shores. An overrun of the health service is a possible scenario and may make things very difficult

Dunno why you'd give any of those videos a second glance unless theyre confirmed. The amount of fake **** coming out of there on youtube and tiktok and the like is just insane, honestly shocked how much effort people put into lying just to panic people. Not saying its the case in those videos but plenty of others have been debunked or not confirmed. For example the people falling down on the street, if it were true it would be confirmed by now, so, likely its just fake

Pretty certain it's true and increasing in scale. Have seen too much and read too much from different sources for it to be false now. There is obviously spin that it's only infected people who refuse to remain quarantined but I'm convinced that's not the case.

They are taking the only measures a government like this can take and those are the most draconian ones. Shut everything down, progressively get more strict lockdown. Restrict vehicles to 'authorised' vehicles , block the unmanned exits to the city. Contain at all costs is all they can do in Hubei.

To pass this off with a blanket of "fake" is quite Naive to be fair. The latest one I saw is a woman queing outside a pharmacy, people are clearly in panic and no one will go near her, its shockingly sad and the same amount frightening.

And confirmed by who? Are the government going to come out and say that yer mans video on whatsapp is true? nonesense - Who would you like to "confirm them" ??

On the earlier videos, it is very hard to fake videos of people lying dead on the street while ambulances and emergency services surround them, in full Hazmat gear - unless you believe the paramedics in the videos were in on the "joke"

Actually I've been surprised by just how little turned out to be fake. Every single video people say is fake and unverified and only a small amount have been hoaxes. And you never take one or two videos or anonymous accounts on their own or your a mug.

Most sources (video and accounts) have turned out to be accurate and a lot corroborate each other in some way, in a few days the government usually comes out a speaks on them but tries to spin different reasons. There are some conclusions that people have tried to draw which are ridiculous and irresponsible and there have obviously been fake stuff, but the main points I've seen from unverified sources have been established now.

That's what worries me. If this was 'flu' like deaths the measures wouldn't be as extreme.

I mentioned that earlier - the delirious fella wailing throughout in the ward is unnerving, and cause of death = pneumonia! far better stats for the death toll!

Not that I expect anyone to confirm a lot of them or that they all look completely fake, I just certainly would not be panicked by anything I saw in these types of videos because of how possible it is that they are fake

Wheres the evidence these videos occurred recently? Your the naive one seemingly believing everything you see. It really reeks of confirmation bias to me, for some reason you want these videos and stories to be true to justify your own beliefs or help internally explain to yourself why you might be so worried by all this.

Thats a very probable analysis - but on a discussion forum I do believe im allowed discuss it as it is my opinion.

I have no evidence of anything, but I dont think when people collapse outside of a serious infectious disease incident that paramedics show up in hazmat gear - in all the incidents I mention - they have. But, who knows, they could be from the H1N1 virus or sars. The probability is very unlikely however and personally, I believe, they are incidents of the current virus.

Far too early to confirm anything out of the ordinary.
Can only look outside of China anyway - where any sense of reality, or free press exists.
Until then, anything else unconfirmed, is simply a 'theory'.

Not to say there mightn't be something 'unusual', but still nothing can be taken as factual (or implied as fact related).

Here's a question:
Will athiest China take a look into itself, and become bjorn-again if this thing gets much worse?

I have a view on social media and the kind of people who use it to make fake videos in times like these so i choose to ignore it completely. Especially in times like these as it brings out the absolute worst in people and if anything just reinforces peoples worst fears or beliefs regardless if they are true or not.
