Maybe Delaney loaned it to them :D

    As Dan McD (I think) tweeted (roughly) some time ago;

"Wasn't it lucky the FAI were paying Delaney such a big salary so he could loan them the money to pay his wages?"

Michael Healy-Rae Backtracks On John Delaney Oireachtas Praise
Whilst I wouldn't excpect much from a gombeen politician like MHR, this shows that he's an absolute cock and completely unfit to sit on an Oireachtas hearing

Yet he keeps getting voted in. We get what we deserve.

Are you point scoring here or something?
I know loads of people involved in soccer with smaller clubs and they all liked John Delaney which shocked me but those people desperately need small grants to keep their clubs afloat and he gave them the money so it's understandable.
I'm sure Healy-Rae checked with people in his area and got positive reviews so praised the man. Now with more information he realises he was wrong to praise him and takes it back. I don't see anything wrong with that.

erm, he was at an Oireachtas committee looking into the financial mismanagement at the FAI through a €100k loan from the then CEO to the company (which is part funded by the taxpayer).
It was completely inappropriate for him to praise Delaney like that.

HR assumed that Delaney wasn’t going anywhere and would ride the storm, he knew full well what he was at kissing his ass and it backfired and showed him to be the worst kind of public representative. Only interested in his own patch and ignoring the greater good.

He gave them money? Out of his own pocket was it? It's the FAI's job to provide funding to clubs, not John Delaney's personal gift, and he shouldn't be credited for it.

Healy Rae defended and grovelled in front of Delaney in April despite all the accusations because himself and Delaney would be peas in a pod. Self serving individuals who take advantage of dysfunctional systems to gorge at the trough. Whenever they're criticised they claim to be victims of a conspiracy and act as though they're laying down their life fighting the good cause.

As was said above, he probably thought Delaney would ride it out and he'd be rewarded in future, or would at least be able to claim credit the next time an FAI grant goes Kerry's way. Instead he's now playing the "well we were all wrong, you can't blame me" line now, despite him being the only TD to show support for Delaney at the time.

He is not on the committee. He didn't ask a question there either (despite his stupid claims that he did). He went in and effectively sucked up to Delaney, nothing more or less.

I had forgotten that bit actually. He actually went out of his way to try and crawl up Delaney’s hole. What a waste of tax payers money he is.

Well ya that was my point, i think TD's not on acommitte are allowed to request time in these hearings to ask questions. Good idea in theory as some may have a particular interest or expertise in a particular issue but his contribution was an absolute disgrace. Ruth Coppinger i thought was going to explode with exasperation at his antics.

She is not a politician I'd have time for but she was dead right on that occasion

Delaney has stunk since we ever first heard the name associated with football.

Right now John is thinking...lovely surroundings, beautiful turkey, top of the range ham...but if Emma ever leaves, is it possible to pull crackers using just your own two hands?

This raises a new angle, as presumably the LFA is a separate entity with its own trustees and board. Very hard questions will have to be asked of them. We now know that Delaney and Co. presided over a financial meltdown. How did they get others to participate and hand over enormous sums, were these decisions passed by AGMs etc.

The article basically said he told them the money they were due wasn’t there so they could just take tickets instead. They thought they’d no choice. Very hard to have any sympathy for them if they just accepted it.
