I had a petrol 93. Had to get the steering rack sorted, apparently it's a common issue. Check for power steering fluid leaks. Bar that it was a fantastic car for me, and as far as I know it's mostly Vectra parts so any issues you have there'll be plenty of parts available.

If I'm not spending big on my next car it'll definitely be back to a Saab, loved it.

Too expensive for me given the mileage. Couldn't be looking at that driver seat everyday either.

Ideal for Cavan people like myself!
Only I spent half the price of this on putting new front wishbones in my current bangernomics, I'd be tempted....

Dont care when the nct was done, it's out now.

I pine after my old 9-3. Drove like a dream. That looks lovely but mileage is high

Been driving a 9-3x the last 18 months and love it. If Diesel is a must keep your eyes open for a twin turbo TTiD as opposed to the TiD, the TTiD is an animal!

    Edit: Things to look for
check all electrics work, windows, door locks, heated seats etc. Outside door handles can stop working (easy enough fix). Wiring loom to the boot can cause issues, so check the boot lock, number plate lights etc.
Check footwell carpets for any signs of damp, drainage holes under the scuttle panel can get blocked (again easy fix, but if they have been blocked those carpets can hold a lot of water!

Engine wise, anecdotally i have heard of swirl flap issues, but I'm no mechanic.
Failed DPF re-gens can cause fuel in the oil, so be sure the dipstick is not above the full mark or has a strong whiff of diesel to it.
At that mileage, the DPF might be quite full too, if its even still there....

What's the story with the gearbox in those ttid 93's do they give bearing trouble?

I just looked at an 07 one, auto, with 150K miles, and he was willing to take a grand without much hassle. I've an 08 with similar miles lined up to look at tomorrow, and I'd bet I'd walk away with it for not much more than 1200.

An 09 with big miles for 2K is a bit strong.

That leather makes the cabin a nice place to sit.

This Merc B150 doesn't look too bad. Rear passenger door has a bit of damage.

They’re so ugly they give the Multipla a run for its money.

Buuuut... I’m strangely attracted to it. Thankfully I don’t need a new car.

Actually why am I here again.

    Damn you boards

Long term owner, alleged full history, nice spec, NCT till May 2020 and tax till April 2020, €1675

Bit pricey, but this looks very nice. Spec is good too, leather, sunroof, nav etc. Would be a nice buy at 1500

That vel satis is a serious spot! I mean I wouldn’t drive it! I’d leave it in a shed for 20 years.

I have not come across any issues myself (touch wood), at 178K miles now, but as I said I'm no mechanic, so cant really speak for others...

Anyway, we're gone way OT on this... back to bangers!

My brother has had an 07 2.0 petrol turbo 9 3 for 8 years or so, doing big mileage in the first 4-5 years, and less so since. It has been faultless in terms of gearbox and clutch, only issue was sludge building up which wasnt spotted in a service and meant the engine had to be reconditioned, but it should have been seen before it became an issue. They are great cars to drive, seats are fantastic, inside is a bit dated but there is little better in terms of value for money right now.

I love the Vel Satis and the Mulitpla.

Nothing touches the SsangYong Rodius Mk 1 in the ugly stakes!

I owned one for 18 months or so, back in 2007-2008, and while I loved the car, it just wasn't practical and was too small and cramped for constant use. It was the same 2 litre engine as the one above, and while it wasn't particularly exciting to drive, it was enjoyable, but it ended up sitting outside the house not being used and so we sold it on.

Like most GTV owners, I've regretted it ever since, but then again, I have gone through most of them at this stage, 146, 147, 2x 156's, 166 and a GTV. They're certainly a car that will be getting very thin on the ground now, and starting to climb in values, and as a second "fun" car, would be a nice car to have!

Had a loan of one for a month about ten years ago .Have driven lots and didn’t rate this despite being an Italian fan .Very awkward driving position , neither foot comfortable ! Sound is glorious of course but nothing else particularly appealed to me .( Just ‘average coupe ‘ in every respect ...) Even the looks can provide mixed responses depending on angle / mood etc although it’s aging well .
While I’m here ,I’m running a diesel 2003 mini with 171k miles up over a year now .Engine going like a Swiss watch and NCTd to next August but needs oil and fuel filter changes , front tyres , €150 fan belt and tensioner job , maybe a battery , with front discs a few months down the road too .Anyway could spend €500 on it .And clutch is a €1k job in these and could be needed in next couple of years .I love the mpg and handling and it’s a far quieter and plush place to be on two hours daily commute than cheap petrol like Panda or Aygo .Can’t decide if I should pay the extra for a monthly fuel costs for a low miles 2006 petrol Cooper ( S would be lovely but fuel costs could ache hard !) ,keep running mine or get a new Suzuki 1.4 Swift ,Fiat 500 etc .I like small cars so now luxobarges .Would love to hear recommendations .( Had a 100hp Panda and hated it ...)

The Vel Satis was almost too far ahead of its time and made by the wrong brand. The luxury crossover is a big seller now.

Ha! I know that car. Owner is very mechanically minded. You can be sure that car was well looked after.

Yeah, I guess about a year or so. Was a pleasant surprise seeing you posting up that car within a minute of me dipping in here again :)

I won't be starting any mad wars about what bangernomics cars are supposed to be, but for me that car is right up there. A good bit of NCT left, loads of comfort and luxury, a simple old skool setup with a petrol engine and no dodgy bits that go wrong like in modern diesels and the tax is not too crippling with it being just a 2l engine (€710 per year)

I will take a wild guess, Renault 19?

edit: I'm wrong rear side window is different. The back looks like it though.
