I wouldn't be opposed to it but it seems like it should be way down the pecking order of importance / relevance to improving the city center. Also i'm sure the permanently outraged will whinge about the fallen leaves causing issues etc etc.

I see what youre saying, but think in the context of the upcoming quay wall and morrisons island works its a perfect opportunity to stack the river with trees where possible. Union quay is nothing special but is made a lot more pleasant by the presence of trees along it, and I think the LLFRS (https://www.lowerleefrs.ie/gallery/) whatever your views on it looks a bit bare concretey and should have a lot more tree lines dropped into it. It also doesnt need to affect parking, trees can sit on the edge of the footpath/ parking divide and also serve as low key bollards/ protection for pedestrians

Any recent photos of the progress on the major new construction schemes in the city (Penrose Dock, Horgan’s Quay, student apartments, hotels etc) ?

Anyone know what's going on with the Prism? Weren't they supposed to be on site before the end of the year?

Not sure, think they are closing down the tender and getting close to demolition. All but 1 billboard has been removed from the site which is a goodish sign.

Have a look at the threads on this forum, plenty of recent pics there.

Doesn't appear that tender has been sent out yet.

skyscrapercity saying ''PROC are saying that the tender did in fact go out and that Bam, Vision and Cfield are on the tender list.''

Hoping this is the case anyway!

I'll know a few very peeved people if that is the case and the extent of the list.

Lots of hearsay on PROC, for every substantiated rumour (they called the tower at the sextant months out) there are three trolls taking the piss (International shipping HQ by the docklands, Samsung going into the amgen site, Airbus and Nissan both moving to Cork due to Brexit).

Open to correction but I believe there was something to that Nissan site. There was talks of them moving their Sunderland operations to the area.

    Airbus and Samsung.. lol

Since you do have a bit of inside info and are ruling out the Prism, are you seeing any big project set to start before the end of the year?

To be fair I think it was one of the far less glamorous divisions of Samsung that was being mooted, medical devices I think? Even still, nothing happened!

Glenveagh rep on RedFM this morning saying last year would be the last year of Live at the Marquee as the site would be needed for construction shortly afterwards.

Not really from my point of view. Could be a few in early 2020.

From what I can see there appears to be a disparity between the expected budgets being put against projects for financing and the tender quotes being received for same. This is resulting in a large number of projects going back for refinancing after the tender stage. This is happening with both public and private jobs.
For example, the new oncology outpatients department at the south infirmary which just completed completed its second tendering process ( well not completed they are all submitted as of last week) with a largely unchanged design. The original tender process was completed early 2018 if i remember correctly

Good to see! Especially with the bad news from Novartis this week. Still really interested to see who the main tenants will be in Penrose Dock, according the the figures in the article, Grant Thornton will only be taking 5% of the available floor space. That leaves plenty for a marquee multinational....

Anyone know what exactly is happening at Navigation Square? I though Phase 2 was supposed to be completed in October? It looks like they are building at the back of Phase 1 now? Still no tenants announced since Clearstream as far as I have seen...

17 beds isn't much for student accommodation.

3-5 beds are the average per student flat, so it wouldn't surprise me if it stays the same height, or only sees one extra storey but with a fancy rooftop terrace added.

It's the word basement that caught my eye, especially so close to the river.

Passed by the old Crows Nest site down by victoria cross earlier today. No sign of anything happening at all yet with regards commencement of construction of student accommodation.

    :(

I took a walk past it heading to work this morning, doesn't say the height on the planning notice but guessing similar to what's there already going by the number of rooms but with some sort of roof terrace.

I see the Abbey Theatre is getting an €80m cheque by the department to be redeveloped. I suppose lucky for them they’re in the right city. No questions asked.
