RWY34 in use at Dublin this morning due to a very strong northerly wind. Very very rare that 34 is in use purely due to weather.

Delays building and EI3281 (STK81DR) BRS-DUB diverting to Cork.

Was on a flight that landed on Runway 34 this morning, pilot sounded really excited as he was telling us there was a strong northerly wind and we were holding for them to switch to this runway

Today's one was an A340-300 which is scheduled as LH978/9 FRA-DUB-FRA every Wed. The one you caught was an A340-600 which came in for painting.

Bit of a rare one but,.....
I see at Sun Country flight (SCX8970) on its way into SNN now from ATH. What's that about?

    Troops afaik.

Two diversions at Shannon this morning due to weather. I note they're now switching to RWY16 in Dublin.

First time i ever saw a go around from my window into Cork was the Faro flight thought it was landing then engines roared and turned left over the house. Amazing wondering why the landing gear was still not up while it flew away thought it was done pretty fast?

Just about to head up to the viewing area now after work. Could be interesting during rush hour based on the wind direction

Standard wind shear recovery technique. Don’t change aircraft configuration until out of the wind shear.

Makes you wonder what their fuel levels were like after crossing the Atlantic.

Very Sad too hear :( was only recently watching an air clips video on youtube of this very same aircraft. These aircraft often make 9 + hours flights across the ocean and with 5 crew you would think they would spotted that they where low on fuel earlier and diverted to another airport ?

    That's awful :(

And I know it's not really relevant, but I was in Lviv a few years ago and its a really lovely city.

    RIP to the crew.

EASA has pulled their Third Country Operators approval, so they are banned from European skies.

    Different operator

Oh. I thought it was all An-12s.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,232 ✭✭✭PukkaStukka

Yeah it was operator that was sanctioned, not the aircraft type
