I thought that was a very poor run by English. He was never going to qualify from the front. I guess the the IAAF invite procedure didn’t help his preparation.

Glad to see Adam K from Poland scrape through as a fastest loser. Disappointing that Amos pulled out. Could the US do and 800 double? McBride and Wilson both looked good.

I did take some delight that Lindsey Sharp is out, I find her an awful moaner. Women’s marathoner was a killer, fair dues to them for finishing.

Barr was a bit flat down the home straight ; I don't think he will be happy with that showing at all

    Coleman in a different league.

His semi final had two out of the three medal contenders so a bum draw. Thomas did us proud. Such a shame he couldn’t get to final. He deserved it.

A terrible day for Irish sport all round.

    That was mustard.

    Seasons best.
Can't really ask for a whole lot more, expected him to finish ahead of the Japanese athlete though.

    He didn’t deserve anything...

You have to earn a final place....

    He didn’t....unfortunate, but true!

Gemili is so honest. I really like him. Sad to miss out by so little.

In your opinion! And I’m quite entitled to mine.

4th heat of 6 with only two sub 1.46 performances prior to that I don't think the tactic was the issue a good honest race to open up the fastest loser spots (worked as 5 athletes qualified from the heat) just didn't suit him to take it on could be because he is not traditionally a front runner or could be the fact he shut down his season and was on holiday before call up (not exactly ideal prep)

I know he will be disappointed but he went for it, just a pity it didn't pan out but I prefer than than play safe and still come up short.

    No evidence of that.

Johnson not a fan of the mixed relay. Interested to hear his opinion.

Can't say I'm a huge fan either. All a bit too much novelty about it.

Yeah, an exhibition event according to Johnson. Nations won't send out thier best athletes before their individual events.

There is a deeper philosophical argument about directly comparing male and female performances and asking why can't men and women just compete separately.

He missed out by only 0.09 of a second in the end

That was a war of attrition. Many PBs, and many very tired looking women.

Phenomenal jumping. Gayle is having a great day.

The new graphics are hard to follow for the field events. You have to squint to see the long jump distances pop up on the screen.

    Agree 100%.

Also, the running clock on a pink background? Who thought that up?

The light show may have cost a tidy sum but I'm sure these lads just want to run. Potentially spoils a quick time with waiting for this to finish.

When you compare the field to some of those over the last 30 years it's pretty uninspiring

I wonder will Coleman manage to be whereabouts for the medal ceremony? :pac:

Who's hanging around for the 50k walks? :D

I see the women's 20k walk starts 24 hours after the 50.

Nice PB for Diver tonight, continues on her upward curve. Puts her 3rd fastest Irish woman of all time behind Sonia and Catriona

Delighted for Hassan winning the 10k. She’s been knocking on the door a long time. Always love watching her run.

100m was ok but really miss Bolt in it.
