My mother's background gives cold baths to children and also lets them sleep outside in winter.

I know it might not be culturally normal to Irish kids etc.

But this is indoords in the uk and during the summer.

People reported them to the NPCC (Uk version of ISPCC).

    Seriously.

Will you stop lying about what actually happened? Its not right.

You are going to have to learn you can't accuse people of abusing their child so lightly its not right.

What if i said you were abusing your father? Based on something i saw?

I don’t care about your mother or her background.

I’m not lying. I’m quoting word for word what they said THEMSELVES.

Don’t bring my father into this. I’ve made no mention of him and you shouldn’t either.

This springs to mind. (Apologies for not being able to find the original version)

While I have no interest in the lives of YouTubers, your comment is a blatant misrepresentation of the video in question. It’s common when we hear something that we believe to be shocking to us.

As an aside, Successful youtubers get a hell of a lot of abuse from people and I usually see it as nothing more than begrudgery from people. However unlike other celebrity industries, I’m not sure what kind of management youtubers get, if any, that would prepare them for being in the public eye.

I personally think it’s wonderful to see someone making a successful career out of living their life on youtube, something that is self made and a pay off of hard work.

There is a huge youtube family in the UK, Gaby & Alex. Originally from Eastern Europe, they used to post dailu videos of their kids playing with toys. They persevered and are now one of the most successful YouTube channels in the UK. All they do is post daily videos of the kids playing with toys or out in parks etc. Their surroundings and video production values have improved as the money has rolled in. They’re worth millions. More power to regular folks who can be successful like this.

You did bring him up. I wouldn't have known about him otherwise. However i respect your wishes and won't speak of him again.

They have several videos prior where they show Erika giving a 'warm' shower. As opposed to a hot one.

    They said that themselves too.

Sardonic medical staff often have to restrain adult patients. People with mental illness etc. Its sad. But it happens as a last resort.

No it isn't. And its not your family.

I had to have them as a kid. Not for punishment but my mom felt it was healthy. I survived.

Also she would leave me out in the cold to take naps in winter ...and that is proven to be healthy.

There is more about it here.

Talk about completely missing the point...

    Go to bed. Please.

Also there are occasions where adults do have to be restrained by medical staff.

    Its sad but it happens.

Restrained. Not slapped or in any way punished.

When I was in Norway, snow burying cars they had prams outside the creches lined up. Not one squaking baby. They were sleeping soundly.

    Fresh air helps you sleep.

Of course they were properly swaddled etc.

    True.

But it's physical force appropriate in one situation that would not be in another.

And you an oracle on everything. Fallible, imagine that.

If the child is engaging in fecal smearing and ingesting the contents of her nappies, there are clearly sensory issues at play and a cold shower isn't going to help. In fact, it'll probably exacerbate the situation.

They are wealthy, well connected people and don't really have the excuse of ignorance. A quick google would point them in the right direction of how to go about helping her. Its all a bit sad really.

Its not that. She is perfectly normal.

I have known many toddlers do this. And no i didn't put them in cool showers or slap them.

It is sometimes ok to slap an adult.

If an adult threatens you ...you slap them if you need to.

    No?

    You defend yourself.

Children are not reasonable like adults. They are different and have different needs. I am sorry but that is true.

Its not something i would advocate regularly for nor harshly.

But rarely if a parent chose to and of course it were legal (as it is by way in the UK where they live).

That being said i would only 'tap' the hand. Bad handy etc.

If that is abuse my lord.

More deflection. Why is it OK to slap or otherwise punish a small child who , by virtue if their age has limited cognitive ability abd poor controlfor a toileting problem and not an adult with with limited cognitive ability and poor control?

    True.

How many angels can you fit on the top of a pin?

If a tree falls in the woods and there’s no one to hear it does it make a sound?

    Ad nauseum.

You’re not going to bring anyone around to your way of thinking. No one is going to suddenly realise that “actually yeah, ok, I’ve changed my mind, it IS ok to cold shower a child as punishment”.

Perhaps you should agree to disagree.

I can’t speak for anyone else but no amount of links or anecdotes about you, your mother or your homeland is going to make me change my mind.

We have different expectations and hopes for both of them.

No it isn't normal. Please educate yourself and look up "Pica". Its considerd a type of eating disorder.
Its not and never was considered normal to ingest your own excrement.

All children go through this stage.

Proof please, in that case. I want to see a study that supports the notion that all children ingest their own excrement. Stand over your claim.

What to do when babies eat poop.

I think its casual vernacular speaks for itself.

No, sorry, you'll have to do better than a blog post.
Are there any studies that support your claim that ALL children eat their own excrement?

Sorry? You know punishing a child will not make them understand what their brains have yet to develop the capacity to understand. Nor will it excelerate bowel and bladder control. It doesn't matter what your expectations for a 2/3 or 4 year old are. They can only be as developed as as their age permits. Slapping them won't t make them learn or physicslly develop faster. Like punishing a cognitively impaired adult won't reverse their decline or slapping sense into someone who has lost the ability for rational thought won't work. You might get punched back by the latter two, though.

This is proof that ‘all children’ do this?

A lot of the ones i used to babysit yes. :)

And again no I never slapped them or put them in cold showers and they stopped it.

All kids go through the poo smearing stage. Or well a lot do.

    I didnt of course.

I think its considered pica only after a certain age. But I am not expert.

I’ve had 5 children. None of them have done this.

Have all your children done this?

Based on what I've read in this thread and in others from a poster, The question running through my mind is "has Boards started experimenting with an AI bot to stoke controversy and discussion?"

There is a strange pattern to how an argument is constructed that can't be explained by "English as a 2nd language".
    Also some inconsistencies between threads.

I only have 1 person on ignore and if it wasn't for everyone else quoting them..... lol

    I dont have any.

What would YOU have done if your daughter repeatedly took her nappy off and smeared poop? There is nothing else wrong with her?

How would make her know its not ok and correct her?
