Rolling south towards tallaght area now. Thunder had the deepest weirdest rumbling noise i have ever heard. It was like massive rolling barrels.

Best thunderstorm in Lucan in years. One particular savage flash and rumble about 10 minutes ago. Still lightning and loud thunder to the south. Clearing from the north. Intense rainfall for 25 minutes. Great to finally get a decent summer storm.

Loads of car alarms going off now, Old Bawn Tallaght. Unreal rain

Cauliflowers exploding in my line of sight :pac:

Looking at the radar looks like a rash of cells breaking out in Meath and Louth moving south.

Still hearing lots of distant rumbles in Dublin 16.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 2,907 ✭✭✭Stevieluvsye

That storm is going to hit tallaght in the next few minutes

Fierce fork lightning at Liffey Valley a little while ago.
Loudest thunder I’ve heard in a long time, the car park literally shook!

I'm nearby to there, and I will be epic I suspect. Some amount fell from that little cell.

Really loud and a strike hit the right field nearby, whole place shook!

I want more! (with the caveat that people and property stays safe)

Back in Clondalkin. There was another rumble a minute or so ago. It has brightened up.

Getting off the LUAS at the Red Cow, the thunder sounded strange. Kind of crackly.

It has been a good while since I have heard that amount of thunder. More than the early morning back at the end of June.

    More to come?

I'm in Donabate, lovely sunny day here. But to my west I've been watching the biggest bad tempered cell erupt out of nothing in the last 30 minutes. I'm not one bit surprised that those of you under it are having a ball :D

The nature of this is hit and miss so you might be grand anyhow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,689 ✭✭✭Rougies

Heard thunder there presumably from the city center cell. Not showing up on live lightning maps.

Less focus on thunder and lightning I think from now on but still very heavy downpours.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,346 ✭✭✭highdef

New active cell just east of Ashbourne.

Additionally, convection really getting going in the west side of County Meath.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,131 ✭✭✭✭Kermit.de.frog

    EDIT: like highdef says :p

Cell active now near Ashbourne - headed for Dublin city.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,224 ✭✭✭Kutebride

Savage rain. We are in the firing line here in Meath. Waiting to hear a bang of thunder. Deadly warm, as my mother would say ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,882 ✭✭✭✭Rock Lesnar

No Thunder, just rain here in my area of Meath anyway

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 12,208 Mod ✭✭✭✭Meteorite58

Some big Convection there, how much juice left in it ?

Train of convection running in a SE'ly direction through Cavan, Meath Kildare, Dublin , looks like it is dropping a lot of rain.

Looks like lightning getting closer to the NE in some very active cells.

There's a cell sparking furiously off the coast of Drogheda but it's trajectory is not onshore

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 420 ✭✭Little snowy old me

No thunder and lightning, but another intense cloudburst in Lucan for the last 20 minutes. Heaviest rainfall I have seen here in years.
