lasts a second or two before screen darkens again

Say the message came a minute ago, when you unlock your screen does it display or do you have to pull down from the top to see it?

Have to pull it down, but in pretty sure that has to happen with all android.

    What is the alternative?

Maybe it's when you wake the screen that was a different experience, certainly the oneplus 3 had a different and much better functionality.

I find I have loads of notifications I miss unless I pull down, but I think on the oneplus, I would have seen them when I wake the screen and either dismissed or actioned.

I don't know how the oneplus operates sorry. I'd imgine that set up leads to a messy wake page though.

What you are describing is standard in all vanilla Android phones. It is only MIUI that hides the notifications after a few seconds. Honestly it is the worst part of MIUI and a quick search online will show you how many people complain about it.

You could try the app "Notch Notifications for MIUI" from the play store. It is great when it works but I find after a few days it stops.

Other than that you could flash a custom ROM to bring the phone to vanilla Android. The issue with flashing a custom ROM is that I believe you loose some hardware functionality and obviously support.

Don't like the way they put a 'security warning' on my phone telling me my phone is "at risk" cos I use google messages and not there default crappy one. Wow you mean All I need to do is click to fix? Change my defaults? nope, fc$k off with that. Oh, and take that 'warning' out of my main screen too ...

(on the beta Launcher update so you may not see it)

A good app to hep with the touch calibration issues on your F1 screen.

    Touchscreen Repair

If it's anything like mine using the fullscreen gestures and/or using swipes (on any keyboard) can confuse the phone as it sometimes doesn't know what your trying to do. On mine, trying to make a ! in the text by long pressing would make my phone exit the app as it thinks I wanted to see 'all running apps'

Found this app helps by resetting the values recorded by the screen.
Take about 2 minutes to do and then you restart your device.

This is now down to 259.99 on eglobal, is this likely to be the final price, or is it at risk from customs charges?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,524 ✭✭✭sioda

E global ship from Europe so no customs great price

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,514 ✭✭✭VW 1

Great, thanks. Pulled the trigger so hopefully shipping is quick.

A question I really wish I didn't have to ask, but anyone know of a phone repair spot that'd fix a Pocophone screen in Dublin? Cracked, but working away currently. Google not giving me much!

Hi Guys, looking for a phone upgrade from my Huawei P8 lite, seems like this is a whole lot of phone for the price. Is E global the best place to purchase, I haven't used them before, also anything I should look out for version wise to be sure it will work OK here?

    Thanks

I got mine from honorbuy and it was delivered in two days, no customs. but they did charge for delivery.

There is a guy who regularly posts on HotUKDeals about his e global experience. A quick read of it confirms that it's not worth taking the risk on such an expensive item if something goes wrong as there is no comeback. He was left without a phone or a refund. And I've bought expensive cameras from them, but never again!

£275 (about 305€) on Amazon for the 64GB version, about twenty euro more for the 128GB version.

You know the kind of after care you'll be getting from Amazon in the unlikely event something goes wrong. I bought mine from them back in Dec, arrived in a couple of days.

Amazon.it for items fulfilled by Amazon are usually a little cheaper, got 128gb for 287 and 8 euro for 2 day shipping. Only stuff that is sold or fulfilled by Amazon though

From reading a few articles does the Xiamoi 9T seem like the succesor to pocophone?

Are we going to get a pocophone f2?

The 9T has a processor thats weaker than the F1, so from that viewpoint its hardly a successor.

however the 9Tpro (launched today) has the Snapdragon 855 which is an upgrade on the F1... so maybe that might be marketed as the F2 , i dunno

Considering this has the snapdragon 730 I'd imagine there'll be some version with the 855 so probably be the 9T Pro or the poco 2 imo.

Edit @sydthebeat beat me to me it

I haven't seen any official word on Mi 9T Pro yet.
If it doesn't materialise then I'd say the K20 PRO will be launched as the Pocophone F2 next month!!

Anyone got the May security update yet ? It's been mentioned elsewhere that people are getting it now.

People on XDA saying to change region to India to get the last OTA faster. Haven't tried that yet though.

Looking to a) buy a replacement screen for my old Pocophone b) but a new pocophone for a family member.

Where are people buying the above now?
I did use Honorbuy but they seem to be out of stock of phones.

I got an OnePlus 7 Pro to replace, but I do miss my old poco

Anyone using a custom ROM ? I think I want to get rid of Miui, I don't trust it. The Miui SMS app was asking me to confirm my identity today for some reason.... I couldn't send an SMS until I agreed to confirm my phone number ? Where is my info going to ? somwhere in China ? I had to reboot the phone to get rid of the request. Other system apps are being updated from other sources on a regular basis to. Think I've had enough of this.

Think I'll try Lineage, suppose to be great with OTA support to.

Also interested from those who flashed away from Miui

Amazon.it (buying from a seller fulfilled by amazon) around the same price or a small bit more expensive than eGlobal but with quicker shipping (€8 something) and better customer care.

Bloody hell, I've just logged on to see if anyone else was experiencing this.

Even the stock browser has started to give me random notifications, this is roughly 6 months after I bought the thing, so wondering is it written into the rom somewhere?

Did you debloat the phone with the ADB tool?

Does it matter if you order the IT ES or DE version instead of the Uk one?

    Assume its just the plug?

Just smashed my J5 on a stone floor by accident today would like to have a new phone by early next week.

Cheers for that just ordered it, not bad when the equivalent price will get you a mid range samsung , which I found awful, blessing in disguise I hope.

Pain having no phone though for few days , tend to break rather than keep and upgrade

My first question would be: What you all doing using the built-in apps?

All ads can be turned off app by app in their individual settings. Be warned tho, I use google messages as my default text app and the phone sees this as a 'security issue' and wants to get you to change it back evey time a scan is run... You can tell the phone to not alert you about it but it will always record the warning anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,426 ✭✭✭positron

Thank you for mentioning debloat, I will do that too (haven't seen any suspicious stuff like others but still, might as well)..

Does anyone else have issues with the headphone socket? When I plug earphone it jumps back out a tiny bit and either completely disconnects, or works at a fraction of the volume level. I have already tried different earphones just in case if it was the due to a worn down male plug...

    Hi,

dropped my redmi in the sink last night, gutted, nearly three years old and still happy with it,

Ordered the Pocofone on Amazon this morning, went with them as wanted it as quick as possible, also stated that it was "sold and fulfilled by Amazon", so thought this was the best option even though it was more expensive,

Stated on page that there were three in stock, ordered the 128gb version, a screen protector and a case,
Right away i got the email confirming order, on my account page it gave me the usual info of when my items would arrive, option to cancel etc,
However this was only for the protector and cover, under the phone it said "we cant give you a delivery date just yet etc",

Didn't like the sound of this so tried to cancel, got an email saying i cant cancel until item is dispatched (even though i can do exactly that with the other two items, as has always been the case on amazon,)

After a few web chats and a call from customer service, it seems pretty obvious that the phone is not in stock, so now i have no option but to wait for a phone, which isn't in stock, to be dispatched just so i can send it back to receive a refund, so have literally no clue when i will receive the phone,

lady on the phone says ring back on Monday if phone hasn't dispatched and we will cancel order, so i asked if you can cancel on Monday why cant you cancel today?, no answer to that,

And it seems from looking at my bank account that the charge has been taken for the phone but not the other two items!

This is so frustrating but i cant think of any other options, i would almost prefer to send an email but it seems they nearly want to steer you away from that because i dont see an option for it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,426 ✭✭✭positron

That's poor form from Amazon. Usually they only charge your account if they are dispatching the item.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,596 ✭✭✭savemejebus

That is more than poor form, it's the opposite of every other shopping experience I've ever had with them. do you have a link to the exact phone you ordered?

  • Registered Users Posts: 281 ✭✭johnytwentyten

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07JHY3V66/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is the phone, still saying its in stock even though its not,
I spent extra because Amazon are usually brilliant to deal with, even though i had doubts when they were listing the OS as android instead of Miui,

It also said delivery would take longer than normal but thought it would be quicker than the likes of Ali express,

I was googling earlier and seen a lad posting a few years back about the exact same problem, dont know it ended up though,

Frustrating because i cant even go and order it from somewhere else because the money is in limbo in my account
