So it looks like Peter has fought three elections and lost three...is it time for him to fall on his sword?

Why would he be carrying weapons ? He's not some provo terrorism/murder apologist.

Yep...three. He tried for the Seanad too and got 14 of the 113 required votes.

Anyone would think nobody wanted him. :)

I'd like to see him contest the next local elections. That'd make it a full suite of Irish electoral failures. A Royal Flush.

    Forgot about the Seanad.

But in his 2 other elections he got over 400,000 votes combined.

Not that bad for a failure?

Still a failure. No seat or position.

    True.

I think a councillor in the next local elections might be his level.

Green party deputy leader was on Prime Time tonight and was appalling. Disgusting arrogance and sneering at basic questions. They seem to relish taxing normal people. We aren't all D4 millionaires like her, Ryan and Cuffe.

Put them in the spotlight and if the media stop fawning over them and them to account they will crumble, and people will be sick of them quickly.

Yes talking down to Healy Rae - Did you not hear our leader speak, she said, as if Ryan is the second coming of Christ

Same as Saosise McHugh, they can't debate policy and just resort to ad hominem.
Some people have short memories of what happened last time they were in power. Lies, spin, cronie capitalism and destruction of the Irish economy for a generation.

He clearly isn't interested in that. Three elections and he hasn't managed to any work in the community yet. Good going.

I think Ryan was nearly planning to have Saoirse Mchugh on the last Late Late on Friday so he could talk to her about how great she was and how people preferred her to Casey and his views. He was delighted with the opinion poll on Friday night.
I do feel sorry for Saoirse they really pushed her into thinking she was in with a great shot but Ryan just loved to see Casey knocked.

He's very unlikely to win a dail seat based off last weeks performance unless he aligns to a party and i can't see any of the main ones taking him on.

The only way he has a chance is via much larger elections like the Euro's or the Presidency when it boils down to Dail constituencies he doesnt have broad enough appeal to be an independent

The only party who could take him on is FF but Michael Martin is far too concerned about what the Irish Times thinks to allow that

Excluding the spicy stuff he comes out with he's a completely empty suit, and I can't see Martin entertaining going head to head with the local FG cumainn in Donegal for someone like him.

For someone so loose with his gob he could cause 'swing' levels of embarassment? You are right...That ship - a safe party seat somewhere - has sailed.

He might have been a FF type candidate in the past but Martin is far too Woke

No, he's just terrible. For all the scoffing at the Healy Rae tribe in Kerry, they work hard. He's self-important and feels he's owed a seat. Show he can work for one instead of just showing up when an election is called and he might even be in with a shot. He's been as transfer toxic as SF here.

So where do people think the next set of transfers will go? Maria walsh did really well out of Anne Rabbittes transfers while Casey did only middling. It shows how transfer toxic he is when a FG candidate does better out of a FF candidates transfers than him.

I will never forget their car tax introduction in 2008.

You'd be surprised, people may not say it and hard-core ff/ fg wouldn't vote for each other but if people want to vote for the centre it'll be between ff and fg 90% of the time so that's where the 2nd 3rd picks etc will go

Smith Leapfrogs Casey from McHughs transfer, Casey comes sixth and is eliminated next.

Also possible that Walsh slips into 3rd above Carthy off McHughs transfers

there is probably a lot of truth in that. Policy wise there probably isn't a whole lot between them. I cant see the transfer of Saoirse McHughs votes being of much help to Casey.

That sounds entirely plausible. Is the fourth seat in this constituency a frozen seat?
