Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone thinking of going over to the Frankfurt show in September? Last time I checked return flights only €50 for a day trip.

a trip in september may be an option, it would be good to see it before committing to the non refundable part of the order.

will there be any chance of a test drive? or is that the trade off with a good price high spec launch edition...

I think you get a trade off. Get the 1st edition and pay a "cheap" price for the same kit but you take the car.

Sorry done more reading, no test drives. If you want test drive wait till car is out

once you order with VW dealer then you take the car, you sign contract. Anytime up till then you can cancel and get 1k back

What is impressive is the range of VW dealers signed up for electric cars. Not so long ago it was Liffey Valley and Blackwater Motors. No other dealer. Huge investment by VW Ireland and dealers

So reserving now, do you get a choice or guarantee on anything, e.g. I'd like a ID.3 1st Max

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,843 ✭✭✭rx8

Booked flights for Monday 16th September, coming back early 17th. Under €50.
15 minutes in a taxi to Arena. Will probably have 8 hours there to have a good look what's going on.
Lots of pictures will be incoming anyway. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

How does that show work. Will everything be on display from day one (Sept 12) or would there be different release/display days ?

Normally they have release days....but maybe VW will do one big release with the Golf and the ID.3....

Might be worth trying to check with paddy on here to see if he knows. Would be terrible to fly over and miss the VW launch.

Not sure what you mean? I should post that Ireland will only have one spec based on the Q&A on the website. UK going the same route. We don't know what will be included in that spec till September

The 1k you pay now is to get the option to buy the car. If in September you dont like the spec or price etc, you get the 1k back after 7 days

If you were to believe autoexpress were getting the middle model not the one with the HUD and pana roof.
"The UK spec is the middle trim level of the ID.3 1st range of launch models"
I'd expect this first 30,000 to sell out pretty quick with just Germany and Norway alone let alone another 27 countries.

Did you know the UK is not Ireland. Many of the brexiteers don't.
VW Ireland can make a different decision, here's looking at you Paddy!

I would hope VW want to get the HUD out into market to show it off.....it should be a big selling point....

Pana roof?? who cares really, hardly a big selling point.

If I could get the same spec as my eGolf, put on the HUD then happy days....

Unfortunately Irish importers have indeed made a different decision to their UK counterparts and Irish drivers have suffered Paddy spec cars for years. That's where the term comes from.

I'm hoping against hope that VW Ireland will break that mould. We're all European after all. Well not the UK, they never really were. :D

Am I correct that's there's 10k off this with grants and the 0% BIK, makes it a bit of a no brainer as a company car.

I'll be considering looking for my money back if the only option is the basic one

Exactly, so Autocar talking about what the UK is getting is almost completely immaterial to what VW Ireland will do.

5K grant at moment. The other 5K is for VRT deduction which I am sure hasn't been added to any announced estimated prices.

I could be wrong but I thought company cars don't qualify for the same SEAI grant, I think there's a smaller grant in that instance.

What's the point of naiming the garage in this thread, wouldn't it be more useful to just say order time and maybe part of the order number to see can we figure out the order sequence.
    Anyway order time 11pm 8th May - Sequence F9xx - garage anonymous.

As far as I can see there is no sequence to the reservation number.

No harm naming the garage if only to see the spread around the country.

Sorry I came up with the idea of the garage. If people don't want to share then no issue.....as above it was more or less to see which garages had options
