:D:D:D very same Dexter last season was appalling.
This as bad as it is - is genius by comparison.

There does seem a sense that a lot of people will not be too disappointed once we get through the next two episodes and it comes to an end. Will it be fondly remembered? For its earlier seasons sure but for the increasing number of missteps in the final three probably not so much.

Harsh on season six, it was still excellent, especially the final two episode. I'd say five is the weakest aside from the final two, though Hardhome is still the best battle in the whole series imo.

And the fact that season six was still so good despite basically being all original material only makes it even more inexcusable how poor season seven, and especially eight (so far) have been. They messed up everything so badly, it's real shame.

I'll still look back on GoT as a fantastic series, not up there with the very best but certainly a tier below them, but the final two seasons have been a real dampener on it.

The showrunners are probably judged on ratings and get bonuses for that so they're probably laughing.

    Twats.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare how GRRM will finish it vs how D&D finish it
GRRM has the luxury of time too much time if you ask me seems he will never finish it.
D&D would be under massive pressure to deliver a decent send off ready to enter production ASAP and get to air ASAP look at the uproar people had when they found out they would have to wait even longer for S8 because of the 2 huge battles

And yeah time jumping happened a lot in s1 aswell in 1 scene the dire wolves were puppy’s in the next they were shot up so fast.
I would have agreed with everything you said up to this week. I was a massive supporter of the show and when people said that the quality dipped with the books, I was the first to blame Martin for not providing decent story lines they could work on. The show did improve on some things but they have really dropped the ball.

D&D are obviously under pressure but apparently everyone else except them wanted to have two full seasons. They thought they could tell the story in 6 episodes. Everyone else disagreed, so that's on them. They're ego's got out of control. I was willing to overlook all the glaring plot holes in last weeks episode, thinking it was a massive battle that would be hard to get right and I was looking forward to this week when we would get back to the real Game of Thrones but there was too much "made for tv shock value/the audience needs to pretend reality doesn't exist for the sake of entertainment"

Anyone can see that the way Dany got ambushed by Euron and lost Rhaegal as a result was just stupid. Rhaegal was hit with pinpoint accuracy twice but then they couldn't hit Drogon when Dany dive bombed the entire fleet. After all the bows had been released and Euron's army were vulnerable, Dany should've BBQ'd the lot of them but she didn't. She retreated. It was all very silly. And how do the show runners explain this? "Dany forgot about the Iron Fleet." That's so beyond stupid it's insulting to the watcher considering the Iron Fleet were part of her tactical talks with her advisors.

I'm sorry but what ever pressure D&D are under is a pressure of their own making. HBO would've been fine milking it for 10 seasons. They stupidly trusted D&D who still think they have made a great show. They are convinced they've told a great story but we can see that's bullsh!t with their behinds the scene waffle. Last week they said the Dothraki were done. This week we're told that half survived. They also tried to say that Dany forgot about the Iron Fleet. Lol.

We can bitch and moan about their inconsistencies on boards and some like you will make allowances for their mistakes but I imagine the higher ups will be looking at this cluster fcuk and deciding that they shouldn't be hired again.

While I'm as frustrated as everyone else with the nosedive in quality, thankfully it's still light years away from the utter shambles that was Dexter S8.

I was speechless with anger and disappointment after the finale.

The Walking Dead gets mentioned as well. I've never considered it that good considering the insane ratings, but S7 and S8 of that show were particularly appallingly bad.

I only returned for S9 because of a new showrunner and wanted to see if they could right the ship.

It definitely is a major improvement on S7/S8 but still no great shakes considering it's insane popularity.

GOT S8 is still better than both those shows hands down. It's only weak compared to its previous self.

The ratings for TWD actually peaked during the terrible, boring seasons and have been steadily declining since.

The only reason Ghost was sent away was because of $$$$$, it makes no sense story/character wise to send him away... Same reason with the dragon, they have cut a huge chunk out of their CGI budget...:(

Season 1 of the Walking Dead is up there with season 1 of Game of Thrones. It was absolutely brilliant, griping and anyone could die. It slowly went downhill after that and I lost interest during season 7. I'm sticking with GOT because I know there's only two episodes left and we will get an end game but if it was open ended like TWD I'd probably give up now. I think the finale of GOT will get insane ratings and the show runners will equate that to a brilliant show. People are sticking with it because they are invested.

I've noticed that a lot of people who haven't watched it before, caught up on all the seasons just because of the hype. The show was up there with the best but this last season is having a lot of people compare it to Lost etc. It's such a shame that they ballsed it up this badly. Someone posted a fan made death for Rhaegal that was 10 times better than what we got. It's not the story that's p!ssing people off, it's the poor execution.

Yes they clearly mentioned that it took a month. Whereas now it's instantaneous with no effort to give any sense of scale or time.

It’s not instantaneous, they’ve already let us know it takes a month. So if they are in one location, then the next you know a month has passed.

Perhaps they should have a little galloping horse in the bottom corner during the ad breaks to “show” they are travelling, then have the next scene after the ad in the next location???

Cersei's belly should be the galloping horse.

How long does it take to swim from King's Landing to Dragonstone?

Starbucks seems to be the real winner out of all of this,?

A giant starbucks coffee cup sitting on the throne at the end would be a nice finish to all of this

I think so. Lots of tv shows and films have had minor mistakes like that. If it happened in the glory days of seasons 1-4 everyone would've had a good laugh. It's getting so much flack now because they've had TWO YEARS to get six episodes right and are falling short of the mark. If this season had been great it wouldn't be a big deal but it just highlights how sloppy this season is. How many people were involved in post production and no one saw it? I'll admit that I didn't notice it until made aware of it but loads of people did.

It did. There's a shot doing the rounds of Jamie holding a coffee cup during Joffrey's funeral.

Honestly I feel so far Season 8 could have just been a 2 hour long movie because we have had nothing but Filler with a let down episode 3.

This was a better episode than the battle of Winterfell but still had some WTF (in a bad way) moments.
The ballista's were like missiles! Not a fan of how under powered dragons are all of a sudden.
They also seem to purposely be making the "good guys" as stupid as possible.

Why did they even go back to Dragonstone in the first place?
The meeting with Cersei was also pretty daft. It would have been appropriate if she had wiped them all out.
Was good to see some political scheming again on the show. Varys and Tyrion's concerns about Daenerys were a return to the vibe of earlier seasons.

I did get a good laugh when they talked about "what's left of the Dothraki" in terms of their forces.
There must what be about 4 of them left??

Most annoying part of the episode I think. Despite there being about 50 people left alive that we could see in the ruins of Winterfell....we're told in the warroom in E04 that 'half' of Unsullied and Dothraki magically remain.

Furthermore, Vary's talks about how their combined remaining forces, versus those of Cersei (who has 10-20,000 Lannister soldiers, 20,000 Golden Company, and the Ironborn) are pretty much on an equal footing.

Total crap. Be far better if they would simply acknowledge a massive numerical inferiority that would be made up other ways, rather than making prior episodes/sacrifices almost meaningless/weightless.

I read somewhere else that someone who has been paying attention says there are supposedly 50k Dothraki left, somehow.
