Like the good old 70's and 80's the lights dimming.

I love that nostalgic atmosphere, reminds me of living in rural Kerry years ago

Mace head gust 66 knots (122km/h) at 11pm

The Turboprps like the Aer Lingus flight from Edinburgh to Cork is able to land on Runway 25 due to a direct wind. Runway 25 is unsuitable for 737 and A320 class aircraft. The main runway 16/34 is bedevilled by severe crosswinds. That is why flights by Ryanair and Aer Lingus A320s are being cancelled or diverted away.

Dublin went yellow. I knew it would. The winds are already gusting quite high this evening.

North westerlys are worse. Maybe because its hitting the room im 8n instead of out the back. Red warning aint over at 11 in Clare

same as here; different sounds with different wind directions.. hence the sense of the bed shaking. Unusual direction

Marine orange really kicking in here now. What gusts! OUCH!

I thought they said about the Burren that there wasn't enough clay to bury a man, enough water to drown him nor a tree from which to hang him?

Nobody ever finished that quote, it actually ends with 'but the cattle are well fed.' because of the comonage grass in the Burren, animals were able to thrive even in harsh conditions

Wasn't Cromwell himself either, but it was one of the people who he sent there.

What are the conditions like in your area? If you are in the worst areas of the storm, is it safe to go out? Is your car more important than your life? These are the questions you must find the answers to.

Ripping here in south Laois, the wind is unreal. Great that this is a night time storm, less people out and about and safer than if it were a daytime storm

66 knots ar Mace Head is the highest on land so far. 69 at Ballybunion Buoy a few hours ago. Finnis Buoy near the Aran Islands only 60kts. Definitely seems as if that stingjet this morning caused a peak earlier and more offshore than progged.

North side weather shield must be in full working order then.

Did anybody who lost power earlier this evening got it back since? Just looked at ESB power check and outages aren’t as numerous as I thought. Didn’t lose power here yet but noticed the light flickering at times.

Feels weird reading all about violent gusts and power outages yet there's not even a breeze blowing here.
