The assange arrest has been organized by someone
Would not be surprised if this trumps doing a deal cut to bring down the democrat party for once and all

    Wait, what?

You think that Trump is using the US justice apparatus to somehow target his political opponents?

This arrest reflects pretty poorly on the whole Trump organisation tbh. The Obama DOJ did not want to prosecute him, but the next presidents men did. This has got Bolton's grubby fingers all over it. Man is a psychopath.

Their will be no Netflix style silly type of deal you are referring to.

It could just as easily have been an abduction by extra-terrestrial aliens disguised as police trying to get him to delete his insurance file because it contains pictures of the alien leader playing basketball with Obama.

I pulled that idea from the same place where you keep finding yours.

Disgraceful that he's revoked that order and would certainly be interested in hearing him, or the secretary of defense, challenged on it.

Good to see these kind of criticisms of Trump on the thread rather than just the usual stick to beat him with stuff which tends to override.

I think it was Trump's long time friend Mr. Stone who is "in the barrel" for being in contact with wikileaks?

It sure is and has been going on for quite some time.

Is that counterproductive? If they can't be bothered to record efforts to limit civilian deaths in drone strikes the (1) it has the effect of indirectly relaxing the rules of engagement and

    (b) handing more credibility to the other side who can make specious (or genuine) claims and drum up extra support.

So much for draining the swamp. Donald IS the swamp.

1,878 Drone strikes in TOTAL under Obama in 8 years
2,243 in 2 years under Trump

And worst of all, they no longer have to report about them. What a mess of corruption.

Horrific! Imagine how many innocent Yemenis will be slaughtered in 2019 as a result and we will never even hear about it!

For those of us who have kept informed and can remember farther back than two weeks ago, Russian loans have always been an angle. I understand your desire to portray this as something new but when Russian money has been such a central part of the allegations against Trump for so long, it gives your game away.

I have no game (why would people opposed to you be involved in a “game”) except to pour scorn on the vast majority of the russkies under the bed nonsense which generally rules on this this thread. Trump should probably be impeached for his inability to actually govern and mental inability but the Russian stuff is for children.

Remember the Logan act? Louis Mensch and the death penalty for Bannon. All of Seth Abramhsom. The insanity that prevailed then and now. None of that was true.

By the way you can google anybody who opposes war in the American system and add “and Putin” and find the same conspiracy theories.

    Bernie Sanders and Putin

I agree with some of what you say, however - in relation to the bold part - How do we know that?

Is it not prudent to await to hear from Mueller?

Oh, and there was a counter-intelligence operation launched by the intelligence services on Trump because they believed he may be compromised. Was that insanity?

The amount of scandals in this administration.

The Barr behaviour warrants its own thread.

His memo pre-appointment, his PR handling of the report via various letters, his refusal to follow the lead of the two previous appointed Counsel to go to Court to seek the release of the grand jury info to give it to congress, the resurrection of the nonsense into the investigations into how the Russian interference was handled and the issuance of the FISA warrants, public use of the term "spying", then claiming to be unaware of the connotations, the ****ing all over the intelligence agencies - unbelievable.

Just one snag with your theory, it's the Trump Admin that is now getting the extradition to the US done, not something Assange wanted in any case. If you think the Dems don't want him back in the US to subpoena him to answer their questions before a committee in congress you must have something similar to the info Assange seems to have on what really happened during the election. Do you really honestly think the extradition is a Republican plot to get Assange to revel dirt on the Democrats?

And you are perfectly happy with a politician abusing the powers of the state to bring down his political enemies?

Yet you also think there is absolutely no way he would have looked for help in winning an election from a foreign power?

TBF not just Trump wanted him. Not like Trump's predecessor wouldn't have been happy to get him out of that embassy as well.

If he indeed conspired to commit a crime, he conspired to commit a crime and should be brought to justice. The US is a nation of laws and unforgiving.

He also went into a wild Republican party political broadcast when refusing to answer a direct question on how many people would lose health care if the DOJ's case against the ACA is successful. To say the guy is an overt politician rather then an independent AG is a massive understatement.

He also refused to clarify if he briefed the white house on the report while simultaneously delayed giving it to the Intelligence committee

He said he'd discuss that in the hearings once the redacted report was made public which will probably be this weekend.

Barr was very impressive during those short hearings, however he hasn't been properly grilled yet so we'll see.

Good to see that some tGOP senators are against the two clowns Trump is nominating for the Fed board - Herman Cain (he of the amazingly creepy 2011 tGOP video and paleo-#Metoo fame), and clueless Stephen Moore.

Kudlow is in favor of them, which more than anything cements that this is a bad idea.

Calm, composed, articulate, throughout, factual. Plenty of adjectives you can choose to describe his performance.

He didn't cry about how much he liked beer like Brett Kavanaugh for a start.

Regardless of opinions on if or how much he was trying to conceal, he spoke pretty well and in a way that didn't illicit much challenge. He's probably one of the most competent people Trump has hired (though the intent and purpose he hired him for are up for debate).

I'm not joking. Trump is a lowlife in so many ways that in order to support him, one needs to lower the bar so far so that Trump is always above that bar.

What is this bar you speak of?

I think what a lot of posters are missing on this thread is that most Americans have long ago abandoned any concept of ethics and morality in their politicians. It's one of the reasons Congress has an 17% approval rating and perhaps the main reason someone like Trump could be elected.

In living memory, you can start with Nixon, but it's not as if Democrats haven't done their share to lower the morality bar to near zero. Ted Kennedy left a woman to die in a car he had driven into the water while most likely drunk and didn't feel the urge to call for help until nine hours later. There were two homes a few minutes from the accident scene that he walked past but didn't see fit to call for help (there is some evidence she lived for possibly hours inside the car). He should have been charged with manslaughter, period. Instead he became a political icon.

Bill Clinton performed sex acts with a 22 year old intern in the White House, something any senior manager or CEO would be fired for, even back then. He was accused of rape by Juanita Broaddrick, a Democrat, who has maintained to this day he raped her. Yet all Democrats in the Senate voted to keep him in office.

Look at Virginia, three Democratic politicians in a bit of bother recently, two for wearing blackface and the third accused by two women of sexual assault. Months afterwards they are all still in office, and the story has died. Is it any wonder people don't take politicians seriously any longer?

My point isn't in any way to defend Trump's behavior, as he is undoubtedly a sleazebag, or to defend any behavior by Republicans. It's simply to point out that most Americans expect nothing from their politicians when it comes to ethics or morality, and why would they? Democrats point at Republicans and ask how can you support Trump given his immorality, and Republicans ask are you even been serious given who you have supported (and many Democrats still defend).

Yes, you're right that he didn't answer that question when asked but it's worth adding in the context that all those questions will all be answered willingly by him in a few days.
